hi, we are thinking of taking this cruise from Long Beach CA, in September. We are from Australia and have never been on a cruise from USA before. Can anyone advise us on this cruise ship, onshore excursions etc. thanks for your help. We want to make sure we get the right cruise ship.

If you've cruised with Carnival before I'm sure you will love Splendor; I have several close friends who have done the Mexican Riviera on Splendor and they speak very highly of it.

But you have a choice of many cruise lines and ships going to Mexico from Long Beach, Los Angeles and San Diego; Carnival, RCI, Holland America, Princess, NCL, and soon, even Disney, all cruise the Mexican Riviera. My favorite is Princes; but they are all good in different ways.

I returned from this very cruise this past Oct.
Although the weather was not great, the Splendor was. The only problems we had were that is was packed to the max and getting around the ship. I like the ships that you can walk straight through. This ship seemed like a maze and it took me a couple of days to figure her out. Tons of small children that were fun to watch going with their groups from one end to the other. I actually won in the casino. I only play the 1 cent machines though. The food was pretty good most of the time. The had great prime rib!

Hope you enjoy her.

Hi Morsie,
How long your cruise is also determines your ports. Shorter cruises tend to go to Ensenada, which isn't much of a port, while the longer cruises go to Puerto Vallarta, Mazatlan, Acapulco, or Cabo. How long of a cruise are you looking for? What does the Splendor offer?

I think Sept. is during the rainy season. Although Mexico was pretty, I will be going back to the Carribean from now on. You can always count on warm weather.

On an average the rainfall in Mexican Riviera is most from Jul - September and the average temperatures are 90. Lowest rainfall Jan-May and average temperatures 80.

I cruised to Mexico in September, and the weather was nice. It did get a little windy in the late afternoon/early evenings, so bring a jacket.

Happy cruising,
