Ja stimmt, sie ist wahrscheinlich am 10.02. aus Barcelona ausgelaufen, siehe vorigen Beitrag in diesem Thread von mir. Als ich in Barcelona war, wurden die Motoren gestartet, das habe ich noch mit bekommen.

das wars dann wohl !
Das ist wohl das Resultat einer Nachahmung von Chandris - Celebrity, welche nicht nur zu schnell sondern auch zu spät von Statten ging. Eine Flotte so schnell mit moderner Tonnage aufzustocken und dabei am falschen Ende sparen zu wollen, konnte einfach nicht gut gehen.
Chandris hat das damals wesentlich geduldiger angegangen und zudem war ein solcher Flottenwechsel Anfang der 90er Jahre schon revolutionär und für damalige Verhältnisse mit einem vielversprechenden Potential verbunden.
So etwas quasi 10 Jahre später durchziehen zu wollen, bei den aktuellen Verhältnissen moderner Tonnage, die bereits für die Konkurrenz fahren, hätte man viel vorsichtiger angehen müssen.

Zu guter Letzt, an Poulides Stelle, hätte ich eher dazu tendiert, The AZUR zu behalten und ein altbewährtes Konzept weiterzuführen, auch wenn das Schiff im Bezug auf Standard und Größe mit der Konkurrenz nicht mehr so ganz mithalten kann, und die modernen Schiffe abzustoßen. Es gibt ein Stammpublikum, das immer wieder mit The AZUR fahren würde. Außerdem stellt die Korinth-Kanal-Passage ein quasi einzigartiges Highlight dar.
Aber dafür kenn ich die Firmeninterna der Reederei nicht gut genug um urteilen zu können, was am Ende wirklich noch etwas eingebracht hätte. Ich denke, die haben schon alle Möglichkeiten ausgeschöpft.

Dennoch, daß man auch mit kleiner, älterer Tonnage immer noch recht gut fahren kann, kann ich am Beispiel PALOMA, IRIS und JASMINE bestätigen. Allerdings sei dazu gesagt, daß nur ein lokaler Markt angesprochen wird. The AZUR hingegen lief immer international.

Schade.

Hallo zusammen,
verfolge seit einiger Zeit die Info`s im Kreuzfahrttreff. Speziell zum Thema Festival, weil ich meine erste Kreuzfahrt im Dez. letzten Jahres bei mit ES ab Genua - 16.5.2004 - gebucht habe. Neueste Info von Festival HH :
Folgende Schiffe nehemn ihre Fahrten wieder auf,
European Stars 5.4. ab Genua
Mistral 8.4. ab Genua
European Vision 24.4. ab Genua
Caribe

wurde irgwendwie unterbrochen....
Caribe 10.5. ab Havanna.

Nun frage ich mich selbst, soll ich mich nun freuen ?? - oder wird wohl wieder kurz vorher abgesagt.
Kann wahrscheinlich keiner wissen ohne weitere Info bezgl. der evtl. neuen Investoren zu haben.

Hallo Udo,

Natürlich wäre es schön wenn Festival wieder operieren würde. Allerdings ist es schlichtweg unverantwortlich von der Reederei, irgendwelche Termine bekanntzugeben, die man sowieso nicht mehr einhalten kann.
Ich musste heute schon wieder in einem von unseren Einkaufszentren lachen, als mir die Dame an der Kasse einen Werbeschein von einer Charterfahrt mit The AZUR andrehen wollte. Die hat nicht schlecht gestaunt als sie hörte, daß sich da wohl nichts mehr tun wird. Einige hundert Gäste haben sich wohl schon angemeldet....

ich stimme Dir voll zu. Daß vermutlich immer noch nichts offiziell ist - in der einen wie in der anderen Richtung - mag ja sein. Aber die von Udo genannten Termine sind nun schon die dritten oder vierten "endgültigen".

Ich muß schon sagen, daß Royal Olympic mit der momentanen Situation inzwischen deutlich ehrlicher umgeht. Man sagt frei heraus, daß die "Triton" nun wieder fährt, es aber überhaupt nicht klar ist, ob die Reederei damit gerettet ist, da man zunächst versuchen muß, genug Geld zu erwirtschaften. Natürlich gibt man sich damit eine gewisse Blöße, aber mir ist so etwas wesentlich lieber, als wenn man sich mit andauernden Versprechungen lächerlich macht, die man ständig wieder revidieren muß.

In einem anderen Forum war heute zu erfahren, daß Festival angeblich die Niederlassung in Hamburg räumt...ich sehe leider keine Chance mehr, daß es noch ein positives Ende findet. Fairplay ist an sich immer bestens informiert, so daß ich dieser Nachricht weitaus mehr Glauben schenke, als dem vierten Ansatz, neue Termine zu nennen...

Once again the company apologizes to the Trade and to the Clients for the inconvenience caused, but is also very pleased to be able to announce the re-commencement of the activities in accordance with the image and positioning, for which Festival has been positively recognized during the year of cruise activity - and for a new future with Premium "deluxe" vessels.

Also auch wenn dies alles noch ein gutes Ende nehmen sollte: ich glaube trotzdem, dass ich dann eine Zeit lang davon absehe Festival zu buchen um ganz sicher zu gehen. Das Sommergeschäft dürfte für Festival eh schon gelaufen sein...

Leute, das ist doch ganz einfach:

entweder die lassen preislich die Hosen total runter, dann kann man sich das vielleicht noch mal überlegen,

oder die verlangen ähnlich Preise wie die
(bessere) Konkurrenz, dann müßte man geradezu hirnrissig sein, da noch zu buchen.

Ich werde jedenfalls nicht buchen, noch nicht einmal mit runtergelassenen Hosen...

Hallo zusammen,

ich habe es nur mit Hilfe eines Anwalts geschafft, aus meiner Buchung für die "European Stars" für den 5.4.04 wieder herauszukommen, und selbst das nur nach einer mehrwöchigen Verzögerungstaktik seitens Festivals.
Ich kann daher zum jetzigen Zeitpunkt nur abraten bei Festival zu buchen!

Nebenbei: Macht vielleicht noch jemand die Karibik/Transatlantik-Reise der "Costa
Classica" ab 4.4.04 mit?

Fincantieri could be on the brink of losing MSC as a likely cruise client even though the Swiss-based operator earlier entered a letter of intent for an 86,000gt cruiseship with the Italian builder, according to well-placed sources.

Seatrade Insider understands that Gianluigi Aponte could be turning to France again, being very close to sealing a final newbuiling agreement with Chantiers de l'Atlantique. It's not clear the size of the ship MSC would order from Chantiers, although it is believed it could be a lengthened version of the 800-cabin MSC Opera that the same yard is set to deliver this spring.

According to sources, MSC and Alstom could have an understanding not only on the newbuilding but also on the possible future of the two largest Festival ships, European Vision and European Stars. Under this scenario, it could be MSC itself that buys the Festival ships when they go to auction, but a more likely outcome is that the twins could be bought by a company owned by Credit Agricole that would later lease them to MSC.

Asked to comment on whether it aims to acquire the European Vision and Stars, an MSC spokeswoman said only that ‘good news’ is imminent.
