I'm trying to decide which of the canopy excursions to do in Pt. Vallarta, either the zipline or the one that combines the zipline and rappelling.

Does anyone have any experience with the rappelling and could share the experience?

It depends on which excursions you're talking about. Did you book them through your ship, or do you know what company it was? I went on a Canopy Tour that did about 14 zip lines and a rappel at the end, but it was only about 30 feet up. Another excursion offers a couple rappels. I used to explore caves, rappelling is great fun and if you do it on a tour I assume you don't have to climb back up the rope (note climbing hand over hand has a very poor record of success, we use mechanical devices). The longest rappel I've done was 560 feet. I'd like to do that again but I think that's beyond what's offered on tours.

In Mexico there are pits over 1000 feet deep, I saw pictures of people parachuting into one.
