Hi, Ive read mixed things about the parking here. Someone told me you park right at the ship, but some other stuff ive read says that you park on Tchipitoulas (sp?) street and shuttle over. Anyone been on this cruise recently enough to know for sure? (Conquest) Also, is the parking on Tchipitoulas street close enough to walk to the boat? (i hate to wait on the shuttle)
We were on this cruise in July. They have parking at the terminal and on Tchipitoulas street. We had to park on Tchipitoulas and shuttle over. Waited in the parking lot for about 1 1/2 hours for the shuttle. They were not letting anyone park at the terminal when we were there. Also they wouldn't let you drop off your luggage and party and then go park. You all had to take the shuttle. If you have much luggage it would be quite a ways to walk. Hopefully when you go, the terminal parking will be open and this won't be a problem for you.
Was the parking at the ship under construction? Also, how long of a walk are we talking about from Tchipitoulas.....because i dont think i would wait an hour and a half for a shuttle if i could walk it in 15 or 20 minutes. (luggage with rollers rocks!)
That doesn't sound like much fun. Parking at Port Canaveral was SOOO Easy! I sure hope that is fixed before our cruise in the spring.

The port parking is under construction and will probably not be completed until early spring. Here's a site that seems to offer the best deal: Machu Picchu Parking

The Port of New Orleans has a pretty good website that has a lotof information about parking for cruise lines. There's a halfway decent map as well.....the website is http://www.portno.com
We have been on 3 Carnival cruises. The first year we went out of New Orleans and went throught the whole mess of parking at the port. We now find a hotel that will allow us to leave our car parked there for the week and we either Taxi or shuttle to the port. Most of the hotels have security to keep an eye on your vehicle. It is so much easier than going throught the whole port process.
