We are departing out of LA on Saturday, November 11th on the Diamond Princess heading to the Mexican Riviera. I have heard that the water can be rough and that temperatures will fluctuate by as much as 20-30 degrees per day. As we think about what to pack, any advice would be most helpful.

Layers....you will probably need a fleece jacket for north of Mexico but in Mexico it will be warm to hot depending on the ports.
We did the MR in mid Oct last year ..it was a bit rocky from Catalina to Cabo but not too bad.
We left from San Fran

We have done the Mexican Riviera three times. Once in November (okay weather) and twice in January (once poor weather and once great weather). I found the water to be no rougher than the Caribbean.

There is a very distinct temperature change between L.A. and Cabo. You will experience a quick change over a few hours of 15-20 degrees.

We have done the Mexican Riviera three times always in December. It is cool leaving out of port in CA, and windy the next day at sea, but the closer you get to Cabo, the warmer you get!!! I would pack shorts for Mexico or light weight, short sleeve clothing and sandles. Onboard you will want a light sweater for at night if you go out on deck. Very agreeable weather though til you are back at sea, then it can get a bit windy and cool. Have a wonderful cruise! We leave for the Med. this next Friday!!!

We did the Mexican Riviera in Mid Nov. The first day out was cool but not cold. After that it gets warmer and warmer the further south you go. I found Puerto Vallarta to be almost unbearable. The humidity was like 100% and it must have been 100o out. Don't bring many cool weather clothes unless you want to wear them on ship in the evenings. They tend to keep the ship almost chilly.

Thanks for everyone's input. This will be our first trip to the west coast but our 4th cruise - traveled to Caribbean and Panama Canal in the past. We're staying in the LA for six days post-cruise so we are trying to consolidate as much packing in limited spaces as possible. Thanks again!!

Peggy,
Enjoy your cruise, the weather should be very pleasant. The weather in LA will be nice too, bring a light jacket though, especially if you will be going toward the beach. Though this week we are back up to 82 degrees again!!!
