I am taking my kids on a cruise in August. In Puerta Vallarta we will be doing the zip lines and the sunset horseback ride. However my 17 year old son and I are very allergic to insect bites, and he is extremely allergic to poison oak. The nature of these excursions have me wondering how bad the situation will be for us.

We will of course bring bug spray, but was wondering how bad we should expect it to be? And is anyone aware if poison oak will be a problem? If bugs are a big problem does anyone have some good suggestions on sprays?

Thank you!! None of our allergies are life-threatening, but bites to our face will swell us up like monsters and my son seems to get poison oak if he's within 100 yards of it. I just don't want our vacation ruined at the first port!

I have never heard of anyone getting Poison Oak,Ivy, summac in Mexico while on an excursion. I have been there 6 times, I usually get a yearly case of it back home in California, but never in Mexico.
Was in Puerta Vallarta in September and the bugs were out, but nothing a little spray did not take care of.
