We'll be traveling on a Celebrity cruise stopping in St. John's New Foundland and Saint John, Bay of Fundy. Would like to hear excursion experiences, recommendations and opinions please. Thanks Javert
Hi Javert. Saint John is among our favorite ports. There is so much to do there, for all levels of activity. There are scenic tours (such as the sea caves in St. Martin's, that you can explore during low tide), walking tours of the historic downtown area, and for the adventuresome, a jetboat ride on the St. John River by the Reversing Falls.
Let me know what you are interested in seeing, and I can come up with a few ideas. We've been there several times.
I have not been to St. John's, Newfoundland, however.
We don't like having to go on a bus for any length of time, but I know almost every port requires a bus transport to somewhere. So I would say something we can do that is interesting (we like to walk) but where I can later shop and eat and isn't too far from the port. Thanks
You sound just like us...we love to walk, too, and find it a wonderful way to sightsee.
When we planned our visit to Saint John last year, I found the a wonderful Web site (click HERE) with detailed walking tours. There are several, along with a map. I printed everything and took it with us, and we had a super day. We had lunch in one of the restaurants in the Market Square building. All but one tour is within a reasonable walking distance of the pier.
