Looking for some tips as to the excurssion for the South American Cruise

We just got home from the same cruise. We are kind of adventurous so we did the off road 4x4 with hike in Ushuaia and the white water rafting in Puerto Montt. Both were fantastic experiences. Also, we took the trip to Magdelena Island penguin rookery. 2 hour trip by ferry (you can stay on the bus on the ferry if it's more comfy) it was great. Only one ranger lives on the island and there are thousands of up close opportunities to see and photograph penguins. Also, if you stay in Santiago and have a chance to book a tour that goes up into the Andes Mountains it is awesome. We booked it thru the Celebrity rep at our hotel

I'm thinking about this trip too and I loved reading your impressions. I think we'll go and take the whole extra activities as I'm kind of an adventurer too.
