We were looking at the Oceana cruise to the Med next May and it stops in Alexandria. Has anybody been there and how safe is it.

We just returned (2 weeks ago) from a 2 week trip to Egypt. We spent 2 nights in Alexandria, and its probably safer than your home town. The only thing is that I don't think its a great port, since other than the library and the Catacombs its not a great tourist destination. I know that the cruises will sometimes run an excursion to Cairo, but keep in mind that its more than 3 hours drive each direction.
