Taking a Hawaii cruise soon while we are in the middle of buying/selling a house. While I don't want to spend the bulk of my vacation stuck in an internet cafe, I do need to check emails regularly and I refuse to pay the exorbitant rates on the ship for what I hear is really slow service. I was wondering if anyone can recommend any internet cafes within walking distance of ports, especially Hilo/Kona. Thanks in advance for any advice
I had a similar experience while on my last Hawaii cruise and you are right, the internet service onboard is slow and expensive. In Kona I found Scandinavian Shaved Ice on Alii Drive, only a couple blocks from the pier. They open early (8am) and they have six computers with very fast connections...faster than I have at home!! I bought half an hour of time for only $4.50 and it was only .25 per page to print, and I still had plenty of time afterward to see the sights. They also sell ice cream and the local favorite shaved ice, sadly though, no coffee. Look for the yellow "Internet Cafe" sign.
