We are scheduled to do a repositioning cruise with Princess in May. One of our stops is Santa Barbara. The cruise line had no information on where the ship anchors and tenders to. Does anyone know?

Edit: Moved to Ports of Call Chat. RF

You will tender into the main harbor in Santa Barbara and everything is within easy walking distance. From the harbor, walk south to the pier (State Street) and then turn inland up State Street a few blocks to hit world class shopping and dining. There is a ton to do in Santa Barbara and it will be one of your favorite ports. I guarantee it.

Thank you for the information. We have nine hours in port, and I was going to look into trying to get a rental car. It doesn't sound like we will need to do that.

I am not sure what you like to do, but if you had a rental car, Solvang and Santa Ynez are only about an hour away. Excellent shopping, wine tasting (many excellent vineyards reside in Santa Ynez) great restaurants and beautiful scenery. You could spend the morning exploring Santa Barbara and then drive to Solvang for lunch and wine tasting and still have plenty of time.

If it is your first visit to Santa Barbara, then you could easily spend the entire day there, as well.

Hello, I am also heading out on a cruise in early May. We are stopping Santa Barbara. I have tried to find things to do with small children a 7yr old and a 4yr old. I may also have a 13 and 12 yr old with me. Since I will have a small one with little legs I don't want to waste her energy wandering around lost. When I get off the ship waht should we do and where should we go (walking). Thanks for your input.. I realy want to plan well so that everyone has a great time.

Hi Just returned from a week in Santa Barbara. Great place. They have a cute Zoo within walking distance but a taxi would work for little legs. Restaurants on the piers are great. Great store called Big Dog a short distance up State street on the right...before the railway tracks. Find the Sees Candy store and get some chocolate...best I have ever had. There is a trolly system to take you up and down state street. One of my favourite cities.
