Hi everyone, I was wondering if any of you have gone on a New England/Canada cruise, and if you had any ideas of restaurants in Bar Harbor Maine, Portland Maine, or any other ports of call. Any suggestions would be appreciated immensely.

We can't wait we're going Sept 28 on th Explorer!
At Portland we have a packed day so we're just going to play lunch by ear. But I'll watch your thread to see what is suggested by others.

In Bar Harbor we're going to the Acadia National Park (www.exploreacadia.com)on the shuttle for $5 and eating at Jordon's Pond Restaurant (reservations suggested, you can see their menu etc www.jordonpond.com)

Hi CruiseFan,

We will be on the Grandeur with you this Friday Smile

A friend of mine lived in Portland for a while and suggested DeMillo's Floating Restaurant. Here is their website. www.dimillos.com

Happy sailing Smile

Thanks Calli we pulled up the DiMillo Floating Rest. it's at the same pier/Long Wharf as the Lover's Lighthouse Cruise we're doing through Eagle Island Tour 11:30-1:00 so lunch at 1:00 will be great!

We enjoy the Island Chowder House in Bar Harbor. Wonderful lobster!

Note that when there are ships in Portland, the wait at DiMillo's will be a long one. But, it's worth it -- especially for the lobster pie.

(Do I sense a theme here?)

What are your other ports of call? And, what types of food are you seeking?

Happy cruising,
LisaP

Last year in Bar Harbor we dined at a lovely restaurant called "The Parkside," which served wonderful food (great selection). I opted for the lobster, of course, but others in our party went for steak or other delectable delights. It's a short walk from the Parkside down to the harbor -- try to be there at sunset!! (There are some great shops for Maine sweatshirt purchases, extremely reasonable!)

Where is the Island Charter House and Parkside Rest located. We are in a pinch on time for lunch so I guess DiMillo's is out.
