Have heard many warning about renting a scotter can be dangerous, anyone have any input. My wife and I both own motorcycles so the riding doesn't bother us. Any input is appreciated...
Have you ever driven on the opposite of the road though, and would you feel comfortable driving on busy streets in unknown territory? The hop on hop off bus is a great way to get around the island. And you can watch the scenery instead of having to watch traffic.
I have yet to fly home from Bermuda without seeing people at the airport on crutches, bruised and bandaged from scooter accidents. Driving on the left side of the road is the major issue as Cruise Fanatic has stated (there are hair pin twists and turns and roundabouts that lead right into oncoming traffic and invariably someone swerves to the right, rather than the left).
The inexpensive public transportation system (bus/ferry) is excellent and would definitely be my choice for getting anywhere on the island.
We returned from a Bermuda cruise about a week ago and thought the bus/ferry system was fantastic. There is a new bus terminal in Hamilton that makes transferring from one bus to another a cinch. The buses were comfortable and air conditioned, and ran frequently. Ferries were super, as well -- still the quickest and easiest way to get between the Dockyard and St. George.
A three-day bus/ferry pass is just $28 for unlimited use on consecutive days. It was worth every penny.
