Our September cruise ends in Boston on a Saturday morning. Is it worthwhile for my wife and I to stay overnight to explore? Please, don't even suggest Fenway Park and the Red Sox. By September, they always seem to have faded away... Please advise:

1. Hotels - downtown or airport.
2. B and B alternative?
3. Priceline or book direct.
4. Transport from Black Falcon terminal?
5. Any other funky, neat, off the beaten path suggestions - Sure, there are the tried and true tourist sites, but we would prefer to see how true Bostonians live.
