Hi cousins. We've been to Acadia NP a few times, but never rented scooters. In fact, I didn't think they were allowed on the trails, although I could be mistaken.
Even so, the roads are very steep and trecherous in spots. It takes a good four hours or so by car, and given that it's a tender port, time could be at a premium.
The Park is definitely worth a visit, though. Check their Web site, as parts of the trail are currently closed due to damage.
Thank you for the info Lisa you're the best. The advertising says you can ride scooters just not on the carriage trails. I am not comfortable with the whole scooter thing but the rest of my party wanted to do it. You can rent them for 1/2 a day, however, I was under the impression it's only a 27 mile loop so this would be plenty of time. I trust your advice though and I'm not taking a chance on wiping out!
