Could anyone give info on a clean but economical place to stay near the dock in New Orleans? Need to spend the night prior to cruise.

I just returned from the Conquest yesterday. We stayed at the Omni Royal in the French Quarter. We booked through Priceline and I highly recommend it. The Omni Royal was going for $249.00 a night. I requested a 4 star hotel with a max price of $75.00. That is what I got. My son did not have any luck when he did a 4 star for $75.00 so he went down to a 3 star and for $65.00 got the Hyatt Regency which was going for $259.00 per night. He said his hotel was better than mine. Any rate they beat any other hotel that is $75.00 or less a night. If you have never done priceline you tell them where you wnat to stay and how much you are willing to pay. If they accept it you have a room. If they don't then you can keep bidding till you get one. Hope this helps.

I would second the vote for the Omni Royal. I stayed there on my last cruise (American Queen) just a couple of weeks ago and enjoyed everything about the hotel. Great location that is central to everything.

I will be staying in Ft. Lauderdale on April 21, the day before a nice MSC cruise. Any suggestions for a hotel near the cruise terminal?
