Hi Diana, Cabo Wabo is owned by Sammy Hagar. It's a popular bar with the locals, tourists and celebrities. It's supposed to be a pretty hopping place to go. We purchased our snorkeling gear about 6 years ago. I would suggest going to a place like West Marine. We have them here on the east coast. I'm pretty sure you have them, as well. Also try doing a google for snorkeling mask, fin and snorkel. Don't buy gear at Walmart or Target. It won't be good quality and will probably leak. Anyone who snorkels knows there nothing worse than a leaky mask. I also wouldn't go as far as to go to a dive shop. That's overkill. I cannot recall exactly what we spent for the adult gear. Our youngest daughters came as a package deal because of her size, so it was cheaper. I must admit, the snorkel itself that Carnival sells on board isn't too bad and you can't beat the $5 price tag. Check out a few sites and do some comparison shopping before you point, click and pay. If you find a site that you want me to take a look at, let me know and I'll check it out. A'ndrea

Diana, I guess it's all the rage. Fellow cruisers with us had a fun time. Wish we stopped in for a drink, but, didn't have time after our excursion ended. Just had enough time to grab some souveniors on the pier and rush back to the ship. I wish ships would dock longer in ports. I always feel a little cheated. I hope that either you or Michele let me know what you thought of it when you return. A'ndrea

Diana - Cabo Wabo is the whole reason I chose this cruise. We are HUGE Sammy Hagar fans and can't wait to get down there. Sammy also has the Cabo Tahoe...which of course is in Lake Tahoe. He is there in May for Cinco de Mayo...and then spends Oct. in Cabo Wabo for his big birthday bash each year. His birthday is actually the 13th...but he puts on shows most every night for a couple of weeks. There is a restaurant upstairs and the bar/stage is downstairs. It's all rock and roll memorabilia and well...you have to have a famous Waborita while your there.
I knew we were going to want to take our time there at Cabo Wabo, soooo I am very happy the Cabo San Lucas tours does that one trip to Lover's Beach. The boys are excited we get to fit everything in for that port!
The Cantina is not that far from where the ship docks. Sammy does his own cruise in March...ON THE PRIDE...and he meets everyone at the ship and then they all walk to the Cantina...where you get to eat, drink and he puts on a show. I tried to book this for next year...but it is not during Kyle's spring break...so we opted for October!

Also....on the tour company. I would imagine that they do not do the tours themselves, the husband and wife. I would think it is a kind of sub-contract sort of thing. They book the excursions and they have their boats in different ports that take care of you. They seem to be a rather large operation-I don't know how else to check them out. Maybe someone out there has used them and could be of some help. We could start another thread I suppose. They looked pretty reputable to me.
And it's a unanimous family decision....NO USED SNORKEL EQUIPMENT. There was one "ewwww gross" .... one "hell NO" and well the three year old voted "big fishies". Haven't decided if that was a yea or nea...So we'll have to check out West Marine when we get a chance!

Michele, I'm kind of alright borrowing the mask and fins. It's the snorkel that's the hell-no for me. Carnival's snorkel for $5 is a deal. We still have/use ours. A'ndrea

Yes. Carnival sells packaged, brand-spanking- new snorkels for $5. They are basic snorkels, clear in color with an orange Carnival logo on the top. They work great and fit the bill. (okay, I admit it, "fit the bill" WAS a pun intended) A'ndrea

Wow that March cruise sounds like a blast! I will do my best to make it to Cabo Wabo and especially to try the drink. It sounds like a margarita? My favorite drink is a cadillac margarita on the rocks.!
Michele, I already posted a thread about the company and I never got a response. I tried checking them out on the Better Business Bureau but it did not come up. I tried looking up their address on the internet but the address they gave came up as a shopping center. I looked up all the businesses in the shopping center and did not find a single travel agency. Let me know if you find anything on your side. I really liked the lover's beach excursion and would love to try it. Especially since their prices are great!
The couples names are Johann and Sandra...and if you look at the bottom of the webpage it lists the site under the name of JS Tour and Travel. On that site you will see at the top right corner their accreditations. It says they are part of the ASTA - American Society of Travel Agents and the Top 100 Travel Sites. I don't know how to check into these things...maybe check this name through the BBB???? Let me know if you find out anything. Diana - I received a response from another site from someone who booked a trip with them in Cabo. They have no complaints. They said it was nice. They seem to just be agents for other tour people/companies. I guess sort of the middle man! But I really like the shorter trips they are offering and their prices are really good. They seem to back up what they are offering...if the ship doesn't stop or something then you get a refund. I like their Stone Island trip in Mazatlan...looks fun.
El Cid still the cheapest way to go. Will have to see what the beach has to offer for Kyle, the 13 yr. old. A'ndreaaaaaaa help me out here!!!! What activities are located at the beaches that he can go do. I know if I go back and read half of what I have already written it's probably there....geez...I wish I was paying attention back then!!!! oooooooopppss sorry didn't mean to do that to ya!!!!

Hey Michele, Thanks for the update. I will definitely look to this company for excursions. I know that I want to do the pirate show at puerto vallarta. At mazatlan, we are doing the golden zone and el cid. At Cabo I want to do the arcs, lovers beach and if possible a dolphin swim. I will visit the cabo website for info. I didn't see any dolphin swims in mazatlan. I want to squeeze in Cabo Wabo. I really want that famous drink! In fact I could use one right now
Michele, First off, Kyle is too young for the parasailing. Besides, when you get to Mazatlan, you'll take one look and see what I mean. I don't trust the locals with their spittering and spattering "rig of a boat" and their tow line that's about ready to SNAP! Most of the younger boys we saw had boogie boards. There will be many opportunities for you to purchase toys for the beach from locals selling their wares. How about a kite to fly? A boogie board? Pail and shovel? Mask and fins? The vendors cruising the beach will keep him entertained the entire day. They don't let up. Any of these suggestions help? A'ndrea
