Flying into Van Couver. Taking a shuttle to the Diamond Princess. What is the time and what type of procedure is it for your luggage?

Thanks.... first timer

If you're flying in from the US, you'll need to go through immigration, which can be a time consuming endeavor. The airport is maybe 20 minutes by cab to the cruise port, no big deal. From my experience in July 05, I'd give yourself at least 3 hours to get luggage, clear immigration, and cab over to the port. Maybe even a little more time, depending on how busy immigration is.

Smile I was looking through the threads and thought Van Heflin has a long-lost brother.

Thanks to all of you for pointing out and making fun the misspelling of Vancourver. PS...... Haven't you ever missplled a word? I just came home from chemo and was trying to get my mind off of my illness. I just misspelled a word incorrectly. Thank goodness ignorance is not part of my makeup.

terrydp,

I apologize if we offended you. Nobody meant to do that, we were just having a little fun on a Friday night.

Thank you Dave for your prompt response. I guess I'm just a little sensitive. Thanks again.

no offense intended; thought of the van game and took off on that tangent.

What time does your flight arrive, from where, and what time does your ship leave port?

Since you'll be going through immigration, it may be pretty busy; first, you'll pick up your luggage, then you go through immigration. There were 6 of us when we did it in July, and the immigration part took close to an hour, just because there were lots of people. Once you clear immigration and pick up your shuttle (is it reserved already?, if not, try to do that), the luggage goes with you to the port (put your luggage tags/ship/cabin tags on before you get to the cruise port). There will be porters at the port to collect your luggage (be sure you have any necessary medications, a change of clothes, and anything else you might need during the first several hours, in your carry on bag, because your checked luggage may be a few hours before it gets to your cabin). If your're arriving at 11:00am, and your flight is on time, you have plenty of time to get to the port for embarkation. Even if your flight is a little late, you should be fine.

Verrrry, veeerrry important: relax and really enjoy every part of the process. I know the travel part can be stressful, but view that as part of the "adventure." You will absolutely love Alaska. It's beautiful.

Have a terrific cruise, terrydp!
