I will be going to Montego Bay Jamaica on April 1 2004. I would like to find nice bottle of rum (or two)to take home with me. I like Appleton Estate but I would like to try a good local brand. Does anyone know of a good label and place to buy it? Thanks

I also like Appleton, and that is what we picked up in Jamaica. Before you pick up any other brand, see if you can try it first. I got a bottle in Barbados once that tasted like Deisel fuel

I have always liked Meyer's Rum (also from Jamaica). It is a very dark rum (maybe the darkest). It does really well in recipes such as Rum Cake and Bananas Foster. When I was in Cozumel on my cruise, I saw it for $9 for a big bottle. That same bottle went for between $25-$30 at home. I hope this helps.
