So I recieved this phone call from this guy from Imperial Majesty Cruise lines, he said that I was a winner of a cruise.of course, ill have to fly to ft. lauderdale to do it, which, yeah, if i won sure i have to go to where i won. This is the package he said i won : 4 days 3 nights in Orlando, 3 day 2 nights in Ft Lauderdale. 2 day cruise to Nassau. 2 passes to orlando fl, or $100 gas reimbursement, or a free rental car. I choose one of those. Then there is also a bonus vacation for 3 days 2 nights in Vegas, and a 4 day 3 night stay in puerto viarta in mexico. And Im all ok, but what is the catch? I had to pay $498 for a trip i won? Weird. But, if i did this all on my own, im sure it would be thousands of dollars more.
So, is this some kind of scam or something? I'm feeling a little suspicious here...

Did you give them any infomation about yourself? Credit Card nr. etc?
I can just see that RCCL is warning about "false telephone sellers" who will tell you on phone, that you can have a cruise vacation for free, and that their are using a lot of wellknown cruise company's to make this sounds reasonable.
Call the cruiseline who "called you", and ask them if they have a campaign/competition like this.
Well, if this is "real"; Have a great Cruise!

Can I say Time Share tours??? This is one of their typical sales promos, its a numbers game for them, and for every other vacation you supposedly won, I almost guarantee you will have to take a 90 minute Time Share tour for each one of them. How do I know this, been there done that..years ago.
If they left you a phone number call back and ask what the catch is. As far as the Imperail Majesty..a 2 day trip to the Bahamas on this ship is a very in-expensive cruise...cheapest in the Caribbean. I would not call it a win.
If you actually had "won" a cruise, the cruise company won't loose a lot of money if they're letting you have a cruise for free, but the weird thing is; If you've never heard of the Cruise Company before, why whould they give you this cruise? Why, and how do they have your name and your telephone number? What are they actually in charge of?

It's a time share scam and you will have to pay all the government fees and taxes. They will most likely tell you on the hotels that the "free" category isn't available but for $$$ you can upgrade. Yada Yada Yada. Whenever you get phone calls like this tell them to take you off their list and hang up. If you get them in the mail trash them.
As much as I love their ship, Regal Empress, I would not book via this promotion, which several accurately noted is a time share. You can book a two-night cruise directly through Imperial Majesty for far less than $499 without sitting through the time share pitch.
And, I'm sure they did not mention that the ship was built 53 years ago and that many cabins are tiny. As I said, she's a favorite ship of mine, but I'm a liner nut and love her historical charm. But I'd run away from this offer.

For more information about the Regal Empress please click here. The ship entered service in october 1953! (update in 1993). Built by Alex Stephen & Sons (UK), lenght 611,8 ft; beam 77,0 ft; draft 28,2 ft. Crew 396. Paxe 905 (1068 all berth); former names: Caribe I, Olympia.
A friend of mine had an email that he won a "free cruise" and phoned the phone # on the email.
They told him that he would have to pay the port taxes, etc. and they would need a credit card # to secure the prize.
His exact words the agent were
" IF GOD HIMSELF CALLED ME AND TOLD ME I WAS GUARENTEED TO GET INTO HEAVEN, BUT FIRST WE NEED A CREDIT CARD #, I WOULD SAY, SORRY GOD, I DON'T GIVE CREDIT INFO OVER THE PHONE, IT LOOKS LIKE I WILL BE GOING TO HELL"
needless to say, they hung up on him, and turned off the web page his email pointed to.

2 years ago we got the same phone call. It is a time share deal. We went on the cruise and stayed in the time share place all in one trip. Have to say we did have fun on the short cruise but decided we weren't cruise type people..until we tried a Celebrity Cruise! No comparison.
My Mom and sisters are thinking of an Alaskan cruise in Sept. We are worried about the weather being bad as it is close to the end of the season. Any advise?
