Has anyone travelled on this ship and what are your comments. We are planning on trip from Turkey to Rome next June. Thanks!

We did the British Isle cruise on her in 2004.
Small ship, great food, good staff, limited children & smoking sections.
Not you Carnival or Princess fare!

If you have specific questions I will try to answer for you.
We are going on the sister ship Regatta in Jan.

Thanks Lyn for your reply. Glad you have positive comments. How was the dress - dressy casual? Tipping policy like all other ships now? Did you take their tours at the stops or go on your own? Their prices look reasonable but some ships are pretty pricey. Thanks again!

We found the dress code casual in the daytime, evening was dress shirt or polo shirt with dockers or dress pants for men
women... some were dressed up but most wore something like you would wear to a nice restaurant. Some men wore jackets but not required. NO TIES!
Tips are added to your ship board account, a bit more than other cruiselines at $11.50 pp pd.
If you have a butler then there is an extra charge for the tip.
Specialty restaurants no extra charge.
The excursions can be a bit pricey and a lot of people do private tours.
We did a bit a of both.
It is all in your comfort level.

We enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere on the Insignia. They only have 2 smoking areas on the ship, one inside & one on the pool deck if that is a concern.
The shows I am not sure we never did get to any. We were so tired from the day trips we just enjoyed the string quartet.
Don't miss afternoon tea in Horizons lounge.

You may want to join the yahoo group as some organize private tour and share the ride

Enjoy the cruise

What is the policy on charging for alcoholic drinks? We are considering a 2008 South American Cruise

same as on any cruiseline.
It goes on your sign & sail card.
the only difference with O is you CAN bring liquor or Wine to drink in your cabin.

If you take wine to the dining room there is a $20. corkage fee.
If you don't drink all of your bottle at one sitting they put your cabin number on it and store it for the next meal.

Hi Lyn:
I read your response re charges for alcoholic drinks. You state you can bring on board your own? In reading their booklet it sounded like you could not bring any alcohol on board. Did I mis-understand? Some now are searching bags etc and if found they will charge you for it.

Lym - Don't know about O but I've heard on other ships, also Holland-America. Don't know that for sure though. Our TA said if found they would take.

Not on Oceania but I have heard other lines will take it till you disembark.
Oceania does allow you to bring wine & Liquor for your cabin use.
