I am going on my first cruise in a few weeks on the Imperial Majesty. Upon reading reviews and complaints, I am concerned about this trip. Are there hidden charges? Also, I was upgraded to a ocean view room. Is that a good room? Please help. Thanks
Nearly all cruise lines have so-called hidden charges -- soft drinks, photos by the onboard photographers, and Internet usage are some examples. Yet, you can easily avoid these. The one you can't avoid, however, is tipping, which on a 2-night cruise won't be much, anyway.
Regarding the upgrade, on which deck is your new cabin? Regal Empress has a wide variety of ocean view cabin styles.
No one forces you to buy anything on board although they do a good job of pushing their extras such as photo's, special glasses, drinks, tips for room service, ice cream in the afternoon (ice cream at diner is included), diner in the specialty dining rooms & the shops aboard in general. You don't have to spend an extra dime other than the tips that Lisa mentioned unless you really want them. Don't feel obligated to spend anything extra if you don't want to.
