Has anyone been on this cruise ship? First time cruiser, needing info. We are looking at an Eastern carribean cruise on Costa Atlantica 4/6 to 4/13.

I have clients who sailed on the Atlantica over New Years. While they loved it, they stated that they heard many complaints while on board. Just to qualify this, my clients live in Geneva, so they deal with European people and culture every day. The ship is decidely European in it's passenger base, food, etc. and most Americans didn't deal well with this. I also have a TA friend who just toured the Atlantica and her opinion was that the ship is similar to Carnival's Spirit class ships, however, the passenger's waiting to board were old and European. Hopefully, that gives you some insight into the Costa Atlantica.

For the most part it was enjoyable. It has a strong Italian influence with many European passengers so if you object to announcements in languages other than English you will have a problem. On the other hand there are very few announcements.
The food is plentiful and there is a wide range. There are both Italian and American specialties offered with a 24 hour pizza bar and ice cream available. Midnite buffets with a different theme most nites.
3 pools with one reserved for adults. The health club is incredible with state of the art equipment.

They don't push drinks on you like Carnival does.

We had an inside stateroom and I was quite pleased with the size.

The ship is very modern and kept spotless.
I had read some reviews that complained about the Europeans smoking in non-smoking areas and cutting in to lines but I didn't find ythis a problem.
