Apparently a woman jumped off the Costa Mediterrania last week. My friend was on it and they missed their stop in Key West.
What's the matter with these people????

Usually it's too much alcohol and too little common sense. It's a tragedy, whatever the reason, though. Has the passenger been found?

We were on the Mariner of the Seas (RCCL) in 2006 when a young man went overboard. At 4AM in the morning the security camera showed him asleep on deck 4, then it showed him getting up and putting himself overboard. The group that he was with had video taped themselves earlier in the day "drinking" a lot!! They had also brought on bottles of liquor. We were held up in St. Thomas into the night because the police, ect. all had to brought on board and his parents had to fly into St. Thomas to meet the ship. My sons were 12 at the time, we made them aware of what was going on and how if you drink "very bad things can happen"!

According to cruisejunkie.com a 39 year old woman became angry at her boyfriend and jumped overboard at 11:56 p.m. on Saturday, March 9, at about 20 miles Southeast of Key Largo. The Costa Mediterranea missed its port call at Key West.

I guess she really showed him.

Many times it's a "suicide jump"....desperate people do desperate things....and then again, alcohol has to do with many of the overboards...
I would have to say it's almost impossible to just fall overboard...unless you want to, someone helps you, or your are drunk and doing stupid things....Be Safe... Happy Cruising..

A woman on another forum said that her husband always liked to get a photo of her sitting on the railing of their balcony. Does the word "stupid" come to mind?

Sounds like a semi-finalist for the Darwin Award! They need to stay in that other forum and not come here!

Maybe her husband dreams of pushing her overboard, or her falling off. I guess they don't realize it's like hitting concrete from that heighth. My prayers go out to the jumper's surviving family. The picture taker is a newspaper article waiting to happen.

I think the woman better check to see if her husband has recently taken out any large life insurance policies on her.

It might be a little difficult for her to check that out.
