Hi Dwayne,
I will be on the Ecstasy departing Oct 18th. If we dock there on the 20th, I will be sure to report back and take some pictures.
BTW, how far is this pier from the area around Senor Frogs,Carlos and Charley's etc? Thanks

I was hopeful when I saw Puerta Maya in July. It looked very much ready to open so I guess the work was still ongoing on the buildings ashore. This is indeed good to hear.

Julie, I hope we dock there too. I am not sure if I'm going to go downtown or not. I'm shopped out for there. It is too far to walk for me. I think the taxi used to be $6. Does anyone know if the Panchos' location is still open there? It was in O6 after Wilma when we tendered there. Last year we docked downtown. If you are still going to Paradise Beach I think the taxi is $10, but I am not certain.

Hi Julie,

I emailed Tom, and dumb me inadvertently put the date for the 18th, our sail date. Roll Eyes

He emailed me back promptly as always and said he would be there by noon on the 18th., and for me to swing by to say hello in any case. I emailed him back to let him know I made a mistake about the date. So, I'll see when he responds if he'll be there on the 20th. I should know by tomorrow evening.

I can't believe I did that. Laugh out loud

I'll see if I can get some docking info for our cruises to see if we will dock at the new pier (or should I say re-constructed pier).

Yes, Pancho's is awesome! It's hard to buy food in port when it is included on the ship. But, it is a treat to eat there.

Time is winding down quickly. Smile

Dwayne

Hi Dwayne,

Yes, please let me know about Paradise Beach. If you go there, I will come by and say hello. I am thinking of trying Panchos Backyard too. I have heard from several people that it is really good. I don't mind splurging a little..I will be celebrating my birthday on the cruise!

Well Happy Birthday Wishes to you! Big Grin

Tom hasn't replied to my re-mail which is unusual. I'll try him again. So far Carnival still has us for the International Pier (subject to change), and different from the Oct. 6th visit for Glory. They wouldn't give me a firm answer for the Ecstasy as of tonight. I guess we will know when we get there.

I'll post back by Tuesday night. Smile

Dwayne

I was there at the Puerta Maya Pier, cruising onboard Carnival Inspiration. This was back in Oct. 13, 2005, just a week before Hurricane Wilma destroyed it.

I WAS WONDERING: Will the newly built Puerta Maya Pier have that very long Duty Free Store that one had to walk through when leaving or returning from the ship? Here is a photo I snapped of it during my cruise, just a week before it was destroyed:
