We are sailing on Carnival within 30 days from now and we have a single person wanting to go along at the last minute. I checked with the cruise line and a single person is charged almost as much as two people. Is there someone who has gone to a web site and has gotten a good deal on a cruise for a last minute booking? I have heard the ships will deal in order to fill the room at a loss because they will make it up with the person spending on the ship, with drinks,casino, etc.

The days of the ships sailing with multiple empty cabins and giving them at peanuts as you near the sailing date are long gone. If your friend wants to go get 'em booked beofre there are no more cabins at any rate.

I believe cabins are booked at double occupancy. If that person can find someone to go with they could share the cost. If the cruise line gave you a price, any agency won't be able to do any better. If you're only 30 days away from the sailing date, chances are prices aren't going to change much.

That's not really true most people say that on those reviews to justify other things...
Ok there are a few last minute specials, I'll give you that, but consider this:

* you cannot decide which cabin number
* airlines tickets
* and the arrangements he has to make

I have a friend
here on PR
that he do not book any cruise like all people do, he just take his vacation anytime he want to, but then, the week before his vacation, he start calling the differents cruise lines in order to know which one had the best last minute deals and then he just take the cheaper one
Is not the best way to do it, but as the years come by everytime the new deals are not what his looking for
they are always more expensive every year...

I agree with Neil, the under 30 day bargains are hard to find now a days.

Here is another option to consider. If you don't mind sharing your cabin with the last minute single person. They may have some cabins that have uppers (fold down beds), or sofa sleepers that have not been assigned. You might could change your cabin to one of them.

The last minute single would be charged the 3rd person rate. Just an idea I wanted to make you aware of.
