This questions really gets asked alot but here it goes again.

We are going on a cruise on the Holiday (Mobile). The itinerary shows a 4:00 PM depart. We are driving down (about 6 hours). What time would you suggest we arrive at Mobile's port?

Since you are now required at the pier 2 hours prior to departure plan ahead and be sure you have time for unexpected traffic or other delays. I'd want to plan to be in Mobile no later than 12 noon.

Cheers, Neil

Neil is right on track. No way would I plan to arrive after 12 NOON.

Being on board by their "required times" was set in stone Feb 18th by Customs (not the cruise line).....
no more last minute running up to a ship. I have already read of one couple missing a ship because of this.

It is a 6 hour drive from our house to New Orleans and we still drive down the day before!

I think they open the parking deck at 11am. We try to get there when the deck opens and then go right thru check in and on to the ship in just a very few mins. from parking deck to being on board is like 20 mins. The earlier the better

We just got off the Holiday Monday. We got to the port at 11:30 and it was a breeze. So, I agree before noon for sure.

I wonder if this law has caused any parking problems for people getting there early when the ship comes in late.

Here is the arrival advisory.

I can tell you that the access to the parking garage at Mobile is controlled by Mobile Police - and they won't allow anyone in until after 11am. On our first cruise from there we showed up a little early and were told to go across the road and wait in the overflow parking lots by the interstate.

It will be interesting to see how it goes this summer, since we try to be there between 11 and noon.

dave, we were there 3 months ago..we went to the lot across from the parking deck to wait a few mins but exactly at 11 they opened the parking deck. have your car facing the the street that turns to the left. we didnt go in the lot we parked under the underpass. I love getting in and out at mobile... They do a great job.

Yes they do. It is a superbly managed port.

Last Mondy, there was a lot of fog. We were delayed docking. 7:30-11:45 When we got off the boat, everyone was waiting outside of the parking garage. Some people were just standing on the corner under the umbrellas. But, we did not run in to a lot of traffic.

Dave, that sounds like a great way to handle it with the 11AM opening. Port Canaveral has gotten a little confusing in the past.
