Depends on your room steward. Most will do a different animal every night (except on the first day when they are over worked trying to clean the cabins for the new cruisers and then again in the evening.

I have never gone a whole cruise without seeing towel critters. But I have had stewards that were only good at one or two types. Most will use your sun glasses or something else to decorate the things too.

Really depends on the demeanor of the cabin steward. I have been on cruises when I get them every day and I been on some where I might get maybe two in seven days. Who knows... just place a quarter under your pillow and pray that the animal towel fairy visits your stateroom.

Our room steward was awesome...he did an animal every night and everynight we saved them so that at the end of the cruise we could take a "family" picture. Well on the third night he made the first animal disappear. We kindly asked him if there was a way that he could let us save them until the end of the cruise for the picture. he did!! he re-did the first animal and saved the others. At the end of the five night cruise we had a whole zoo on the window sill (we were in a porthole room) and it was awesome!! loved our room steward!!

Me too!!! On my last cruise, my steward allowed me to keep all of my animals and had a towel zoo by the last day.

I ended up with: a seal, a dog, an elephant, a swan, a bear, and a turtle.

It was great. You usually get them every night. If you let your steward know you like them, then they will definitely leave them behind to enhance their tip.

A sure-fire way to get a towel animal every night is to tip your room steward on the first day or second morning of the cruise. We tipped ours several times because she was very responsive to our requests and just a nic gal all around. She worked hard and deserved it. Smile

And yes, we got a towel animal every night, starting the second night of the cruise.

We have always been lucky enough to open our cabin door and find a sculptured animal towel waiting for us. Perhaps, it's because we've had our children with us. It's always good for a laugh. Especially when the cabin steward uses your sunglasses/eyeglasses or baseball cap as "props".

The animals have always been on the bed, with the next day's Carnival Caper, 4 squares of Carnival Chocolates and, (if you have children) chocolate chip cookies.

We got a towel animal every night and it was a different one each night, no we didn't get one the first night or the second come to think of it, hmmmmm.

I wonder if they take classes to learn how to make those nice little creatures.

Yep, tipping the steward is the trick to getting one of those cotton origamis each night.

Towel animals are one reason I give my room person a crisp $20 bill on the first day...you always get some of the extras...plus, most ships have a Towel Animal making class you can take....plus, my wife just gave me a book on making Towel Animals...so..now I make my own...
I think sometimes your room person might be too busy to do the towel thing everynight..but they certainly are FUN...Enjoy the Cruise...

Our last cruise on Liberty we got animals every night. Our first cruise we did also. The first day I went bcak to my cabin to change from Contacts to Glasses and my glasses case was empty, I was furious, who would steal my glasses, then I noticed a towel mole on the bed wearing my specs. I nearly fell over with laughter at how up tight I was. Never again, I am Mr. Cool now on a cruise, nothing upsets me. Cool

ive only been on one other cruise a few years ago, but if remember correctly, the best towel animal we got was a monkey that was actually hanging from the closet, or ceiling, or something....

and the towel animals are cool, but are they worth paying more for? i could understand maybe throwing the steward a few bucks because they have already been leaving towel animals and it shows that they have given you more attention - but to pay them right away (or increase the tip for this reason alone) to ensure that you get towel animals in the future? i guess its just not for me...i'd rather save it for a beer Smile

Spoken like a true kid....I think, and since I've never done it before, maybe I should not offer my opinion (but I will anyway), a tip right up front usually ensures a little extra attention, to include towel animals, and is not given exclusively for towel animals.

Hi Spiritfilled, I am pretty sure on my last cruise they were doing demonstrations on lido. I have heard they do take classes or training.

Best Regards,
