Im planning a crusie this May with my 16 year old daughter. I want to ensure that she is entertained, as much as I think I'm entertaining, we are spending a few days together before and after the cruise and I want her to be able to enjoy herself with other people her own age while on the ship. Just wondering which ship people would reccomend, the Carnival Sensation or Royal Caribbean Sovereign of the Seas.
These two ships are similar in size. I think either ship would be a good choice for a 16year old. With the exception of the rock climbing and Johnny Rockets (surcharge) on the Sovereign; they would offer about the same for teens activities. They both do shorter cruises which tend to draw more families. So she should have no problem meeting other teens on either ship. Both ships have been recently refurbished. The Sensation in 2006 and Sovereign in 2005.
Welcome to cruise chat! that is a tough question that will generate many different responses, somewhat like Ford or Chevy? Both ships will have lots of children her age on board and both ships have great programs for kids too, with Carnival's being more widely acclaimed. The ships are very similar in comparison so choose the package that works best for you in terms of departure, itinerary, and price. you will not be disappointed in either ship.

Carnival will offer a teen disco as well. Also Club H2O is for 15 to 17 only. We have been on both Carnival and RCL and our teen likes Carnival better.
