We are getting on board the Victory for a five day cruise on Sat. What is available to do on the ship while waiting to embark? Our previous cruises were RCCL ten years ago. Thanks, Kate
Get on as early as possible and you can go and have lunch at the buffet area on the pool deck. (Equivalent to the Wind Jammer I guess) They will be open and have buffet style lines, they also have a Deli Sandwhich shop and Chinese food shop on the "sides" of the buffet area. 24 hour pizza and hamburger grill is all the way aft on the pool deck. 24 hour soft serve ice cream is there too.
I typically check in at the cabin to see if it is ready, meet the steward and introduce myself and head for lunch. You will be offered a drink of the day a couple of times there too. Then go for a tour and sign up for any spa treatments before they all get booked. By the time you do all that, its life boat muster station drill time and then departure...
Have a great time! Try the supper club at least once. The food is worth the extra price. (Not that the food in the main dinning room is not great, but the supper club kicks it up a notch because its prepared just for you instead of en mass.

Good advice. The buffet can get to be a madhouse from 1pm or so onward. I've actually been among the first dozen or so passengers to arrive at the buffet on embarkation day. It was eerie! I half-way thought I'd gottn inside before they opened.
Dave- That happened to us on the Spirit, We were like 10th in line waiting for them to let us board AND we had VIP check-in. We hit the buffet and had it to ourselves. The Chinese food line was just starting to put food into the "buckets" It was great to get freshly cooked food. They even let us ask for a dish because they had not cooked everything yet.
mmmmm goood.

Find the nearest bar, order a nice drink. If they'll let you in your room, unpack your carry-ons. Put on your swim suit and go to the pool. Have a marvelous cruise!!
Carnivals "Official Boarding Time" is 1:30 pm. I sailed on the Vicory in April, and they opened the doors to the terminal at 11:30. They had signs that they are allowing us on the ship early, but our rooms will not be available until 11:30.
As soon as we got on board, we went strait to the room to drop off the luggage. If you find the door is locked, then the steward has already made up the room. Our room was already done up by about 12:00 when we came aboard. The Stweard then knocked on the door and introduced herself - she did not complain about us being in the room "early"
As soon as your are aboard, lunch will be served in the Lido restaurant - Lido Deck aft. As far as the activities - the pool will be open, tour the ship and get settled in.
Just before the ship departs there is the mandatory life boat drill for all passengers, once that is over - the ship is yours

Jim C. - The Destiny Class Vessels Destiny, Triumph and Victory do not have the "Supper Club"
That is only availabe on the Conquest and Spirit Class Ships.
I was a little disappointed - I saw the restaurant on the Glory and was looking forward to eating there on the Destiny, but it does not exist. It is in the "streached" part of the ship that makes the Conquest Class bigger than the Destiny Class

PC Guy- I could have sworn that the Victory had a Supper Club resturant. Maybe I am just getting her confused with the Conquest (See .. that's what I get fo rnot taking a gazillion pictures.) You sure? I know on the Conquest, it was in the "stretched area" along with an addtional set of buffet lines (which are a huge plus) But I could have sworn I saw one on Victory. Too bad about the Destiny class though.

Jim C. - I was confused myself, when I got the ticket contract just before I left, it mentioned the extra tarrif supper club which is only available on the Conquest and Spirit Class ships. I went looking and did not see it on the Victory - just the upper level of the lido buffet restarant

I highly suggest eating first as it will get very crowded, also go for a tour of the boat and explore. To my wife and I we dedicate the first couple of hours (after we eat) to exploring the boat (any the victory is awesome)and know all the nooks and crannies. Have fun.
I do the same. Drop the carry-ons and meet the Steward. Go to lunch, get a table on lido by the window and watch all the people come. Then go explore the ship before it gets crowded. Then I rest/nap untill Muster is called. (mandatory life boat drill).
