no never did the singles cruise.. there's a single's cruise going out of FT lauderdale the first week of Feb in 07 it's a "plenty of fish" singles....however I went to one of their parties here in Gainesville and after going I thought they should rename the group "Plenty of whales" I do ok on my own. On a cruise this year I needed to keep in touch (not always the case) Having cruised before and knowing the rates I rented a sattelite phone (found several rental places on google). It worked great everywhere (from the top deck) and the package...rental and 100 minutes was about $150 total. If you are going to use a lot of minutes it is a lot less $$$ than cell or the ship phone.

I was in Calica on the Facination in October, used my cell in port, on and off the ship to check on the kids. I just dialed 000-1-area code-number,was connected no problem. 69 cent a minute. I have Verizon.

MrO> Back before I remarried, I went on 4 cruises thru singlescruise.com and every trip was fantastic. I cannot recommend it enough! If you want more info, let me know. Back to the topic, will a Verizon phone work at sea? I've never used mine unless at ports.
