I would like to remind all the veteran's out there that Carnival offers a very nice discount for veteran's. I know I have posted it before, but I just used my discount again and thought of it. Tom

MY HUSBAND AND I ARE ON THE EASTERN CRUISE IN OCT HE DID MENTION HE HAD SERVED IN THE MILAITARY ON GRAND TURK IN THE 70'S AND WE ARE GETTING A DICOUNT BECAUSE OF THAT NOT SURE IF ITS ON ALL CRUISES BUT ITS WORTH ASKING ABOUT HE IS LOOKING FORWARD TO GOING BACK TO GRAND TURK.
Carnival offer's the veteran's discount on all of it's ship's. I have used it twice now. It can make quite a difference in price, I think the amount of discount is based on the initial price of the cruise.I found out about it from my personal cruise planner at Carnival. My T/A never mentioned it, I geuss she got more on her commision with the higher price.Tom

Tom, I don't think that is necessarily true. I think the cruise lines are starting to do alot of things on their own. Besides, why would a Travel agent lose the whole sale just to try to save a small difference in commission. I am a 20 year veteran and have been on Carnival 28 times. The only military discount I knew off was for active duty not retirees, and then it was only on certain sailings. Just like they offer AARP discounts, but it's only on select sailings. If they are offering a veteran discount just to anyone who served I would like to know how they are verifying it. If they don't verify it, then it sort of diminishes it being anything special for veterans.
Hi, I just booked my first Carnival cruise. I was pleasantly surprised when they asked me if I was a veteran, or active duty. They said you had to been in for at least 2 years with an honorable discharge. I faxed my DD214, with my marriage certificate for my maiden to married name change. I got the discount. I think that is nice of Carnival. Too bad the others don't do it, or do they???? Lil' Lori USAF veteran.
Anyone willing to divulge the amount of discount they got, or what percentage it was? I've got 10 years of active duty and this is the first I have heard of Carnival's deal.
Yes carnival do offer deals for veterans everytime I have called dirctly they ask me if any family member is a veteran which happens to be my husband servered over two years. We can not use it becuase we are going with a group on a group rate.
In Sept, we're going on our 2nd cruise with Carnival. We got a great balcony rate because of the Presidents' Day Sale, but my PVP asked me if either my husband or I was retired military because he could give me another % off if we qualified. My husband was in National Guard but they don't consider that military.
At any rate, when I asked, the PVP told me that the discount is valid for any cruise. He didn't mention a senior discount. What is that? Do you have to be a member of AARP?
Thanks!! How many days do I have left????

Hi! We are doing our first Carnival, the Baja Mexico 3 day for new years this year. We are going with another couple. The military discount took off $130 a person, but just for my cabin, for my husband and I. I thought that was awesome!!! Lil' Lori
We sailed Conquest in January, they didn't ask the Veteran question but hubby is veteran. They just asked if anyone was over 55. We paid $500 per cabin less than the other 2 that were with us for same category cabin.
We are planning trip in January again with all the kids and their spouses, this time I'll compare the senior to the military and see which is best, or even if they combine them.
My fiancee, my daughter and I are taking our first cruise in June, and we got a little over $300 off the price of our cruise when our ta faxed carnival a copy of his DD-214
We just got back from our cruise on the Miracle. Great time! I had booked our cruise over a year in advance and told them my husband was active duty military(19yrs) so my husband was told to faxed his military ID to Carnival for proof. It was due to expire before the cruise, and we were told he needed to show that he would still be active duty at the time of our cruise in order to get a discount. So after a new one was issued we faxed it to them. I was under the impression from our Carnival agent you had to be active duty. Maybe they changed their policy. All worked out. Don't know the exact amount, but we had 2 rooms one was a balcony and one was a inside. Overall savings of around $600. Very good cruise.
God Bless all you vetarans. My son is currently in USMC (10 yrs, now, E-6) so I am glad you are getting a nice discount. My vacation planner asked me when I was booking if I was military, but never mentioned any AARP discount. I am 50 and a member of AARP, but does Carnival not give any discount before age 55+? Curious about future bookings.
Carnival's senior citizen discount is 55+ and is on select sailings. Also, dont forget to ask about resident rates, there are select sailings that based on what state you reside in you get an extra discount also.
I work for British Airways and we qualify for an interline discount, which is the same amount as military discount. Normal rate was $469 pp. Discounted rate was $309 pp. It is a substantial discount. They also offer discounts for police/firefighters/teachers. Don't know how much though. I have to fax a copy of my Airline ID badge.
