MMM White Russians! SO nice....... So Smooth! Its like the only drink that I've been drinking since college folks! YUM YUM Trust me, you know those Coolers that made bartending so much easier??? You don't want to see me on them.... I had two of them the other night at the Eric Clapton Concert, and I tell ya, it wasn't pretty the next day. I can't handle the processing of those things!! Yuck! (Like really, when I drink them, you would think I've just drank a 66er of rye) Its aweful!

Equal parts Kaluha, Vodka and mix with milk( I use milk because if I drank light cream, I wouldn't be so "Light") ehehehehehe

Ohh la la, if you want a great one made with milk and you have these items kicking around the house, mix equal parts Galiano, Creme de Cacao, with milk, you can mix this in a martini glass and sprinkle with Real Cocoa. Thats called a "Golden Cadillac"

What ever happened to REal drinks now? Everywhere serves coolers and for most its so convenient.

Ooops have I gotten onto a Rant? Roll Eyes

Have a great day all!

If you like frozen drinks, they make a cool one on the ship called Miami Vice. It is half strawberry daquari, half pina colada Smile

I usually just have a few beers and get a frozen drink the last sea day. But alot of people have been talking about the Bacardi "Mojito" so I may try one Big Grin

About 10 of us go on a Carnival cruise yearly for 4 years now and we have always put 3 to 4 bottles of liquor in our luggage. We have enough to keeps us happy for the week. Make sure you get the plastic bottles so you don't end up smelling like alcohol all week.
Also, every Carnival boat I have been on offers a soda card for about $40. With this card you can go to any bar anywhere on the boat and get a free beverage. Then you pull out your handy flask and your good to go. The $40 card is well worth it for the week considering $40 can only get you about 5 mixed drinks. Now if you a beer fan like me bring lots of money for the bars. Cool

Wallace,
Do you put the liquor in a different container? Also, I know they let you bring wine on. How many will they let you get by with? Two...Three? Also, will they let you take the wine in your carryon, or do you have to put it in your checked bags?

Thanks!!

In S.C. up untill this year we were required to use mini bottles which are 1.7 oz. And to make a White Russian you have to put 2 bottles in it.

IslandCruz, what about a Long Island Iced Tea? When I was in Charleston a few years ago, I was told by this one bartender that he could only serve that to two people because of the amount of booze in the drink (using those minis).

Wow! I guess so when it comes to a drink like a LIIT, otherwise people would be crawling out of the bar after one drink!

Two drinks makes for a much more dignified bar crawl. Big Grin

Chuck,

At the hotel were I filled in sometimes, we had a mini cocktail that had all 4 liquors in it for a single drink. Long Island Tea Cocktail. TGI Fridays would not even serve 2 bottle drinks. Some hotels here still use the mini bottles for inventory control. I would have to learn all over again using the big bottles Smile

sherri,

This past summer Bacardi and Carnival had drawings on the ships, if you ordered a Mojito you got entered for cash prizes and a free cruise. So alot of people tried them. I did not know what is was either.

Hi sherri,

No they don't do it very often. Was a mutual marketing promotion I hear.

I see you are getting super close to cruise time and wanted to wish you a big..

Bon Voyage Wave

Hi All!

WEll its 530am and I'm just getting ready for work. My last day until I leave for Toronto to fly out.

First of all, Dale ordered a Mojito in a bar in the Dominican Rep. They grabbed a bunch of leaves and crushed them up, and mixed all kinds of weird things in there and bam "Mojito" I hear they are darn potent but he didn't like it too much. As for the Lon Island Ice Teas, OMG, Ok here is the story, we used to go to the same bar when in college, and I used to order their long island Iced teas, I don't know what they put into it but it was the REAL LIIC because 4 full bar shots went into it, (Not the premixed LIIT liquor they have now) Anyhow, I'd drink two and totally BLACK OUT. I would be conscious, bopping around the bar, dancing etc, but never remembered a thing the next day. Folks, I kid you not...... 2 -3 drinks and I was a mess! (Won't touch them ever again although I do remember they are so tasty)

Well best be off to work, Hugs to all and will chat more later! Wave

Thank you Islandcruz. I'm really close to leaving, and am finding it hard to work. Hey. Maybe there is a rare disease called cruise-itis or something, so I could call into work and not go...... On second thought, no. It would be a very long day staring at the clock instead of working.Never mind.
Thanks anyway. I will let you all know how my very first cruise went.

Mojito recipe:
3 fresh mint sprigs
2 tsp sugar
3 tbsp fresh lime juice
1 1/2 oz light rum
club soda

In a tall thin glass, crush part of the mint with a fork to coat the inside. Add the sugar and lime juice and stir thoroughly. Top with ice. Add rum and mix. Top off with *chilled* club soda (or seltzer). Add a lemon slice and the remaining mint, and serve.

We don't put the liquor in a different container. They aren't going to search your bags. But just to be safe buy the plastic bottles. We've gotten as much as 3 bottles a suitcase but I'm sure you could fill a whole suitcase if you were a heavy drinker. Not sure about the carryon thing.

Tracy,

Long Island Ice Tea is not suppose to be made that way unless you are making a pitcher! I wonder how they had room left in the glass for the sour mix and coke Eek

Wishing you a big BON VOYAGE Wave

Just thought I would mention the Mojitos on the Grand P. were very yummy. If you order these on an island (DR) you will get their version, which is not always as wonderful as they think, I ordered one in Casa Mayo and could barely drink it. You have to be careful when ordering ANYTHING with rum as they immediately reach for the 151 bottle. You must stick to the true recipe as written by penny3333, and please they must be in a nice tall fancy glas with lots of ice, its all in the presentation. Another drink I seem to enjoy is a seabreeze (vodka, grapefruit & cranberry) but ask for a little OJ(kind of sweetens the deal). Another is your basic vodka & tonic with a little 7-up.
Happy sails. And remember if you drink to much and are talking to the big white porcelein bowl, remember DON'T flush till you are able to lift your head. ThumbUp
