Even better...the Inspiration is the same class ship (Fantasy class) as the Fantasy ONLY...it has had the new Waterworks (Evolution of Fun) added.
So this means not only do you get all the perks of the Fantasy size....you get the Adult Serenity area...the new water park for the kids and digital karaoke (my favorite!!!)
Only 2 Fantasy class ships have gone through the refit (Inspiration and the Imagination ~which we just sailed) and both are a big hit!!
AND you get Disney World...cool! Have a wonderful vacation!!!

I know what you mean....we have retired many Carnival ships ( my boys have retired 2) and it is odd how we get a sad feeling when they leave. I know it is just a ship...but it still makes me sad.

Those rumours have been going on since 2001. Haven't heard anything definite yet. It seems inevitable now though. It no longer fits Carnival's brand image, and there's not alot they can add to a ship that size. The ship has not been in wet or dry dock since March 06. And none are scheduled right now to my knowledge. That makes me think the rumours are sadly true this time around.

Very true. IMHO I think they were trying to get another year out of her. The "big swap" as I have called it will happen when the Splendor goes to California ( March 2009) and lots of changing around will happen.
However, I just don't know if she has another year in her. Both the Celebration and the Holiday are going to Spain. The plans are for the Celebration to go first. But if the Holiday isn't fairing so well...I don't see why they just don't sent the Holiday first and replace it with the Celebration until the "big swap" in 2009.

People keep talking about the Holiday "dying". She will continue to thrive under a new company and a new name but it will be a while before she is turned into an artificial reef.

I think I was the first on this thread to say that the Holiday was dying. What I meant was that she will no longer be a carnival ship. Probably with a different name so the name holiday may be put to rest. Maybe I will be lucky enough to catch her before she goes, but the earliest I would be able to go would be next april or summer. But in the mean time...it's the inspiration for us 8/16/08
I love the holiday but I can not help but wonder if she aged prematurely when it was used to house the evacuees from katrina. She has always given us a great cruise. But I do think she received alot of abuse from the evacuees
I was leery of cruising on the Holiday right after she was released after Katrina, but she was a fine ship. I didn't see any damage from misuse or abuse from the evacuees at all.
As far as what her disposition in a few years may be, has anyone looked around for pictures to P&O Australia did to Jubilee? Very nice! Not a bad looking gal, renamed Pacific Sun.

Very true....in fact the very first and second Carnival ships were "hand me downs" from other cruise lines...and they did quite well!!
The Holiday will make another cruise line a wonderful ship if they are willing to put the money into her that Carnival won't.

I love this stuff! I know the Carnivale went through several changes after she left Carnival. I have not checked lately, the last I heard she was the Topaz. I have never read about what happened to the Festivale or Mardi Gras.
I for one would love if someome started a topic about ship updates, or where are they now type thing. I bought an original glass ashtray on ebay a few years ago that has the original ships on it.
