We are flying into Fort Lauderdale and sailing out of Miami so I'm looking for a hotel in the Miami or Fort Lauderdale area for the day before and the day after our cruise. Any suggestions??

kellymo, when we cruised out of Miami, we stayed at The Delano in South Beach. There are so many clean, decent hotels, that you will have your pick of nice accomodations.

If I could recommend a site that is indispensible to me for opinions and advice, it's www.tripadvisor.com

Key in your information and it will bring up hotels, recommendations and reviews about everything in regards to the hotel that you could possibly imagine.

Keeping in mind, you will always have one or two people that post a review complaining about a miniscule topic, i.e., the hotel soap didn't smell good, the reception staff wasn't friendly. Take those posts with a grain of salt.

Good luck.

Kellymo, I can un reccomend two in FFL. The Best Western, Oakland who lied about how close to the port they were and said they had a shuttle but then did not. And the Comfort Inn out on St Road 85, Which had nice people but was run down and in a bad part of town. Good luck. There was a Comfort Inn I think closer to the port, near a Hempstead, that we used twice that was good but went way up in price. Get any shuttle promises in writing.
I'll try to find the address of the good one and get back. It was 3 years ago we used it.
