Just curious, if it's not too personal, how much everyone spend on their cruises as far as spending money (including tips, excursions, drinks-alcoholic/non-alcoholic, shopping, entertainment on cruise etc.) I know everyone is different, just trying to get a ballpark/average. As many responses as possible are welcomed.
Thanks!

Like you said, it depends on a lot of things ... we did a 7 day in January and with the ship booked shore trips, we spent with tips added, an additional $900. I did buy 3 pieces of jewelery on board ship though. THis doesn't include what we spent in the ports.

When I went last year I was a part of a group and we prepaid tips and I took $1000 and returned with $350. However I am not a big drinker I think I had 6 drinks and I am not good at gambling so I saved money in those aspects. I also don't drink cokes. I know how boring. Wink But I still had a wonderful time and brought back some goodies.

Was that $1000 covering two people or just yourself?

For a typical 7 day cruise to the Caribbean we put $1000 or so on the shipboard account. We take at least $1000 in cash and seem to have about $400 left when we get home.

This is for two adults and a 12 year old.

Well, for a family of four, 7 day caribbean cruise and doing an excursion in each port we spent about $1200 including tips ($240). But I also take about $200 or $300 a day in "miscellaneous casino expenses".

For an Alaska 7 day cruise you need to almost double that because the excursions cost at least twice as much as they do in the caribbean.

You can do much better than this if you curb drinking and excursions, but there is always something you want to spend money on .

I only spend $100 in the casino, on slots. This is my limit for each cruise. I'm lazy when it comes to tours and usually just go with those offered by the ship, even though I know I am paying more in many cases. But on Cozumel we usually don't take tours and will take taxis to wherever we want to go.

The bar tab is typically our largest expense on the cruise card. Even when getting the soda cards for my wife and son, that bar tab can be high. Those two cards by themselves are around $60 I guess.

I gave each of my three daughters $200.00 to put on their sign and sail account on the ship. The shore excursions were already paid for, so they didn't have to worry about that. And as a matter of continuing to teach them to respect folks who work hard in service jobs, I made them take their 10.00 a day per person tip out of that money (they did not complain), which left them 130.00 to spend on trinkets, etc. on the ship. I also gave them about 150.00 cash each, in VERY small bills-VERY IMPORTANT, YOU DON'T WANT TO HAVE TO MAKE CHANGE-to take on excursions for gifts, etc.
We all had money left over at the end.

For spending money, I take $100 for each port day and $50 for each sea day. I take some in cash and some in traveler's checks. But I allow $50 a day for the casino Smile Mind you this does not include what I know will be for excurions, but the tips are factored in for them. This also does not include my Sail & Sign for bar charges. I actually came close to not taking enough money one time I went to St. John, forgot it was 4 taxis and 2 ferries, plus park admission! So I take a little extra, but usually come back with some Smile

I do a 4 day cruise to the Bahamas.

Bring $1500.00 cash to Gamble and Tip.

My Bar tab is Usually $250.00 to $300.00

I have a Big Piggy Bank like thingy that is ceramic and shaped like a Ship and Say's Cruise Fund's on it.

I save all year throwing my change in it. I try to live by the $5.00 rule pay for everything with a five dollar bill and put the change in my left pocket whatever is in my left pocket when I get home goes into my Cruise fund. ex:
coffee $1.25 pay $5.00 $3.75 into my left pocket.

It seems to work well. I seem to do well at the Casino's onboard as well as at Atlantis. I havent come home broke yet.
