Hello, I am thinking about booking a cruise next year for a party of 4 Husband, Wife, Baby, Grandmother
I am leaning toward 2 possibilities - a Cat 11 Suite on the Elation 5 day to Turks & Caicos, or the Southern Caribbean run on the Destiny (cat 6E).
Would a Cat 6E be able to support 3 adults and a baby in a crib, or should be be leaning toward the suite on a shorter cruise?
Thank you

Hi PC Guy, The category 6E rooms are nice. They are called the family suites. The have floor to ceiling windows and a sitting area. This is the room we always stay in. There are 4 of us (2 adults/2 kids) and there is plenty of room. You basically have a king bed,(2 twins that are pushed together) 1 upper, and a pull out sofa. I think it is well worth the price for the extra room. This room also has a small fridge. By price comparison, this room is less than the suite but the real only difference is there isn't a balcony. Also, one other thing, it is on the spa deck and there are only 18 rooms there. The floor is nice and quiet most times. There is easy accesss to Camp Carnival as well.
We stayed in the Catagory 6E on the Triump, there were 2 adults and a teen girl (you know thats like have 2 extra people..lol). Some people who visited us that were staying in the 8A balconies said that our cabin was actually bigger than the regular balcony cabins. We had plenty of room.
Hello Cruise Specialist, that is what I thought. You are saying that the cat 6E is the size of a Cat8A+the balcony, except you have a sitting area where the baclony would be and floor to ceiling windows

Actually the sitting area was the sofa in the same area as the balcony cabins, but there was a table in front of the windows. The cabin was maybe 35sq. ft larger than the normal balconies because the space was used for the cabin.
We booked a Cat 6E room on the Glory for the Eastern Caribbean. My questions is that I have been told that the motion on the top decks is worse than in the middle of the ship. I was just wondering if it is that noticable on a large ship like the Glory. Last time I was on the Glory, we were on the Upper Deck and we had no problem with motion. TIA
We were on the Triumph out of Charleston during the time that Wilma or was it Rita? (October last year) was going on. We never felt any movement. We really enjoyed the fact that we could stand at our window and felt like we were on top of the world.
I hope someone can answer my question today. I'm thinking of booking an 8A room for almost $500 more than an oceanview room. What do you think? It's a family of 4 and it's our first time going on a cruise. The ship is the Triumph. Please forward your thoughts. I need to confirm this by tomorrow afternoon.
I am not sure if they are available on your ship but they have a 7a on the ship we are sailing that is an obstructed view for cheaper than regular balcanys. You just cant look down directly at the ocean because the life boat is directly below you. The rest of the view is fine though. It might be something for you to consider if you want a balcony at a cheaper rate
Thanks for the feedback. How is the Triump? We're scheduling our cruise through Priceline.com. Seven days for $2500 (8a balcony) or $2000 (oceanview), St. Thomas, St. Martin and San Juan leaving from Miami, FL. We need to get flights as well and do we need a passport or can I use our birth certificates? I think these are excellent prices considering our cost to Disney. The thought of being in all that water makes me a little nervious since I can't swim.
Hello newtocruising, I had a balcony sateroom the the Victory in April - An exact sister ship to the Triumph, it was really nice. Our room was on Veranda Deck, at the back of the ship. It had 2 twin beds, pushed together as a king, and a single convertable sofa. There was only two of us in the room, so we did not need the sofa. Having the balcony was great.
Be vary careful of opening the balcony door when the airconditioning is on high. it will cause condensation to form all over the room, and the smoke detector may be fooled into going off. This happened 3 times to us on the Victory, and each time an officer on the bridge phoned the room to make sure all was ok - after the 3rd time, a technician serviced the unit.
If you are going to have 4 people in the room, you will need to get a room with an upper berth that folds into the wall.
If you go to carnival's website, look at the deck plans and find a room with a litte infinity sign - they have a queen sized bed, a single convertable sofa and an upper berth.
