But you don't understand! We eliminated the surcharge everyone was complaining about...well, we will eliminate it for cruises that start a year and a half from now but it's the same thing!
Our new pricing scheme is different, except that in the end it is the same. See?
Very good point Gary. Unless they add the fare hike to the non-commission fare portion. The agents only get a commission on a certain portion of the cruise fare before they add the Federal Taxes/Fees.

Gas prices are dropping like a brick. I think the surcharges should be eliminated now that gas is around $80 a barrel! Oh well...at least they will be eliminating it.
Well I would like to see prices drop. I do not think it will happen. I do trenching. The fuel has been high and that hurt. What hurt more was the cost of parts. A belt that cost $25.00+-, now cost over $40.00. The digging chain cost $380...now it is almost $600.00. The drop in fuel does not mean I can lower prices. I am sure other businesses are going thru the same, even cruise lines.
The one thing I like about the new policy is it will get advertised prices a little closer to the bottom line. It is a more fluid way (no pun intended) to price cruises.
This is the right thing to do. I just hope it all get's stabilized and we can go back to less fine print.
Just my opinion, no flames please. We certainly don't want to set any oil wells on fire.

Well you can blame the high cost of fuel, because the goods are still on the shelf. The farmers used high fuel to product the food. The truckers used high fuel to deliever the food and parts. Until the parts are used and new lower priced stuff is here, it is still the high cost of fuel that hurts us.

Gary, I will be heading out late today (Wed) to my family's lake cottage about 2 hours inland and south of here to rest for a day and get a jump on I-95. We are staying at the Radisson at the port in PC Friday night.
I think even after they drop the fuel charge, and hike the prices there will still be some bargains. Everyone is just going to have to be diligent in finding them.

They posted an update today about the supplement and reimbursements for 2008 and 2009 sailings. It then goes on to say that none of the sailings are currently eligible, but they will post an update as soon as any of the sailings are eligible.
