This may seem like a very silly questions, but is there a thermostat in each room like in hotel rooms?

Not a silly question at all! The simple answer is, YES; but I have serious doubts as to whether they work. Sometimes I think they are just for show.

On most of the Carnival ships I have been on, there is only a regulator that allows you to adjust the amount of incoming air out of the vent. Simple and works well.

f-mattox and tncruiseman are both right.

For the most part, the ships we have been on have been relatively comfortable. There have been a couple that we could "hang meat in", but a request for an extra blanket from the cabin steward was all that was required.

I have never been "hot" (which is what would have bothered me the most, because I can't stand to be hot)

Happy Cruising!

Yep, like tncruisemand says. A regulator to adjust the amount of cold air. It was in the ceiling on Spirit, triumph and glory. Stand on the bed and slide the gauge

Yes, on the older ships is a dial type thing in the center of the cabin on the ceiling. As has been said, is an air flow regulator, not a thermostat. But it works really well. If you are at least 5'10 you can reach it easily.

If you leave it wide open and are out late it will get cold, but in the day and after hot showers etc you need to open it up.

There is also a round little vent in the head that sucks air out of the cabin. Is a little strange the first time you see the set up Roll Eyes

The Victory was usually at a nice temperature throughout the ship. Our thermostat type thing was on the roof of our cabin.

The "cold" adjustment was on the ceiling. It was turned all the way off and we froze in our cabin. Thank goodness for the duvet!
