Go to Chichen Itza instead:-)...It's a 2 hour bus ride but worth the trip....it's now one of the 7 Wonders of the New World....You won't be disappointed.....Happy Cruising...

Hi Bob, I have one more questions. Do they allow digital cameraas on these excursions?

Yes, they allow digital cameras. There is a surcharge to use video cameras at ancient sites in Mexico, but that is minimal and worth it.

And whether you go to Uxmal or Chichen Itza, you WILL NOT be disappointed. It's too bad there isn't time on a cruise to do both on the same trip. They are both incredible glimpses into an ancient world. I'll be at Chichen Itza with my mom (who has never been) this May.

You can use your digital with the video feature...it's the BIG video cameras that they charge extra for....One thing at Chichen Itza, there is more to see if you walk into the jungle area....I did and almost got lost:-)...
so don't stray too fare...When I was there last winter, they weren't allowing anyone to climb the main pyramid...they were repairing it in anticipation that it would be chosen as one of the 7 Wonders of the New World...which is was..
I've seen most of the Mayan ruins on the Eastern side and Chichen Itza was my favorite...the Mayan guide we had said it's pronouced Cha chen Itza:-)....he said it in 3 distinct words....Have a GREAT time...and stay out of the jungle...unless you are carrying a compass....
