Two other couples and we are heading out on the Valor next week, and one of the guys needs to participate in a meeting one of the days of our cruise. Razz The 2nd couple has kids at home. Both want to know if cell phones (and/or Blackberries) will work on the Valor. We are doing the Western Caribbean route (GC., Belize, Isla Roatan, Costa Maya)

I know that most ships are adding cell service, and Carnival has committed to having their ships cell-ready by year's end.

Do any of you know if cell phones will work on the Valor?

Thanks!!

Chris (Who is NOT taking a cell phone, laptop, Blackberry, Trio or anything like it with me. . .I'm on vacation buddy! Cool

I am not sure, but where did you read about phones on the ships by the end of the year? I might have to re-think my vacation choice!

Blackberry .. definetly not... even if the cell phone service was installed, th eblackberry runs on a different type of air interface.

Don't know about the cell phone, you may need to contact Carnival for the truth. But, how badly does he need to attend the meeting? I mean, there is ship to shore phone, but that could quickly run into several hundred dollars for 10 mins of talking. Most meetings I attend go much longer than that.

The other option is to go to the internet cafe and buy some access time and attend via netmeeting our instant messenger?? (Would be the same as black berry)

Sorry it took me a few days to sign back in to read your responses and questions. . . .

Emr, you asked where I read about cell phones on ships. Here's the link: http://www.carnival.com/CMS/Articles/fleetwide_wireless.aspx

Jim, the meeting, from what he told me, is one he needs "to attend" via something. I'm going to pass your note along to him. I suggested the Internet Cafe, which makes the most sense to me, too.

Thanks for your answers!!

Outta here in 1.5 days!!

Chris
