I have heard of people getting free Upgrades. How would I go about getting a free upgrade after booking a cruise?

The most common way of getting an upgrade after booking is to book a Guaranteed Category unassigned cabin . It is extremely rare for assigned cabins to be Upgraded. It does happen on occasion though. This is just from my past experience, and alot of reading.  Dwayne |

There is no rhyme or reason to upgrades.
(That is why we call it the Upgrade Fairy!!) We have been cruising some 26 years with Carnival and had never booked a GTY so we had never gotten an upgrade AFTER the booking. Last week, Carnival decided to upgrade us from our assigned cabin (interior Spa cabin) to a BALCONY SPA cabin. And as IslandCruz said...that is rare. We always book an "assigned" cabin (no GTY) and this is the first time this has happened. Now as wonderful as it sounds (and it is wonderful) technically that is only a one move up.
