Sailing in the Carnival Ecstasy on March 2, 2006. What's the best way to get your own booze on board? I heard to put in your checked luggage, but any specific way? Also, do they spot check your bags or is everyone's bags checked? (carry-ons and checked luggage)? Do they have the whole xray thing and dogs??? And lastly, is it ok to bring a blender? If not, is there a chance it might get xray-ed? Sorry, I'm quite a lush when it comes to vacations and just trying to save any money I can (car needs fixed)!!!

A blender might be kinda obvious when the bags are scanned. We took a 5th of the clear variety on in a water bottle that was packed in our checked baggage. What didn't fit in one of the 12 oz screw lid bottles, we poured into one with the sippee top and carried it thru in a handbag, all they did was ask us to take it out and hand carry it thru security. We also took 2 bottles of wine. We didn't have any problems but we might have been lucky. We also had 3 twelve packs of soda in the same bag.

hi, we have taken our smoothie maker (blender) with us on our last 3 cruises we packed it in our checked luggage, never had a problem, and if qI was questioned I would tell them I needed it for my protein drinks, that I need it to mix with fruit and juices what would they know, the bullit they advertise on tv is a great little blender our friend bought one last summer thinking about getting that little device as it works great, and small to pack!!

You are allowed to bring in wine and champagne on board in your carryon. Check out Carnival's website FAW\Q's.

Yeap, clear alcohol in water bottles is the way to go, my hubby brings along a few water bottles of rum with him, my mother-in-law is more brave than us, she uses a extra suitcase and all that is in it is wine bottles wrapped in bubble wrap, BUT one one of our cruises the passenger boarding the ship infront of us put his bottle of jack daniels in his carry on, well they caught it so he was detained and taken to a back room, we talked to him later on, he said they read him the riot act and searched all his other belongings so i guess getting booze on the ship is luck.

So, does everyone's checked luggage get xray-ed and/or gone through by security??? Or is it just spot checking people here and there? Is it a big process, with dogs and xrays and all the extras???

ALL your carry on luggage goes through an x-ray machine. If they see a large bottle that looks suspicious then they will ask you to open your bag and check.

We had a friend who took his dark rum in a listerine bottle, he made sure that it had the seal still on....not sure how he did it, but they searched his bag and let him through with it after they saw the seal still in place.

I would also recommend putting any wine in checked luggage in a sealable bag. Red wine on clothing might be more costly than a bottle bought on board. Having been on 40+ cruises, I can understand why the cruise lines tries to control liquer brought on board.

If you are flying to your port city always remember to buy the booze somewhere between the airport and the ship, i know many people who have packed their booze, boarded the plane only to have a soaking wet suitcase & clothes.
The ships are hard on the luggage but the planes are harder.

According to their web page you can take on some wine, why do we have to sneak it on in the checked luggage? Why not just put it in the hand luggage and let them see it? How can they take it from you when their policy says you can bring it on when you first board?

you may carry wine in hand carried luggage, they state in handbook there is a corkage fee if you want to have it served at dinner, it is the hard spirits that needs to be concealed. they do not care about the wine, I have even seen beer go on without out a problem a six pack per person, again its the hard stuff they look for.
