UNFORTUNATELY NOT TO GOOD....USUALLY THE UPGRADE WILL BE TO A BETTER DECK...BUT NOT FROM AN INTERIOR TO AN OCEANVIEW AND DIFINTELY NOT TO A BALCONY....YOU COULD PROBABLY CALL AND PERHAPS PAY THE DIFFERENCE NOT TO GET AN OCEANVIEW ROOM...IT USUALLY ISN'T AN AWFUL LOT OF DIFFERENCE AND WELL WORTH THE DIFFERENCE IN PRICE...BUT IF NOT JUST ENJOY THE CRUISE...IT WILL BE GREAT NO MATTER WHERE YOU LAY YOUR HEAD...HAVE A GREAT TIME...SHARON

Upgrades depend mostly on how well-booked the ship is. My wife and I are sailing on the Elation April 25 and have already gotten two upgrades. We started off in an interior on the 2nd deck, were upgraded to a 3rd deck interior, and finally ended up in a 3rd deck Oceanview. While it's true that upgrades 'generally' go from inside to inside or outside to outside that's not always the case.
We are sailing this Saturday 5/1 on the Zuiderdam. We booked a balcony guarantee back in January, and on Friday (a week before sail) we were upgraded 3 categories to another balcony cabin.
