Floyd,

The Captain's Welcome Aboard cocktail party usually is one hour or less in length. The dress code is whatever the dress code is for that night. They usually do the party on the first formal night, although that has changed recently with Carnival since they have relaxed the dress suggestions. Personally, I'd go with at least some nice slacks, collared shirt, and a sport coat.

The relaxed dress code was wonderful...there were some that wanted to dress and that was nice for them but there were also some in what I would call resort wear or church clothes ..

Most people seem dressed up to me at the Captain's Reception. At the least what Dave described. I guess there will always be those that don't understand what a formal occasion is. Roll Eyes

Amen Dwayne. The Captains Party is a formal affair with dancing, cocktails, and hors douvres. They're treating you like VIPS so I figure the least I can do is dress like one. We love it. Of course...free booze...duh!

Just as Dave wrote it is a very nice elegant party. The captain will introduce the crew and than will make a remark about how nice the ladies look tonight. I took exception and yelled out that they look nice every night. The lady in front of me turned around and said "Thank you" so did my wife. I had a nice night. happy dance

How many people usually attend? 50% of the guest on board? 75%? 90%?

On a large ship like the Conquest that could get crowded.

Hi toomuch, Welcome to Cruise-Chat!

I don't know what the guest ratio is. It doesn't seem overly crowded. They usually have it twice to correspond with the dinner seatings.

Welcome aboard,

Dwayne

They usually have one at 5:00 pm for the cruisers that have the early dinner seating & then again at 7:000 pm for the 8:00 dinner guests. Do go early so you will be able to get a seat. We had to stand this last cruise...not fun in 3 inch heels.

You haven't gone to one yet? It is a cocktail party with waiters walking around with trays of different drinks and snacks. You get a couple cocktails and a few canapes, the band plays, people dance, and then the Captain or another senior officer welcomes you aboard and introduces the other officers. That is pretty much all that happens.

Best wishes for a wonderful cruise, Cas!

I always check out Boolchand's at Havensight Mall. Havensight Pharmacy is in the mall, up next to the street, in case you forget any items. Go to the Captain's Party, you will enjoy it.

Near the port within walking distance you will see the cable car going up the mountain. At the top are a few shops and a bar. The bar has a famous drink called the "Bushwacker". The views at the top are awesome and it's a great place to get a picture of the ship down in the harbor.

I second the idea of going up to Paradise Point and getting a "Bushwacker". As Cruise Fanatic noted, the views are awesome! Big Grin
