So I purchased a CVC membership close to 2 years ago. It's about to expire in 1 year.
Since I've been busy, I haven't been able to utilize it.

So I phoned in and asked about the 2 year extension. It's still $199 for 2 more years.
He also gave me another option:
Exchange my resort certificates (that are basically useless) for money off a cruise booked via CVC not via points.
This costs $99 per certificate. This also knocks $50 off the renewal fee.

Keeping with CVC tradition, the agent didn't tell me how much I was gonna save, just "the more you spend the more you save"

I'm kind of leery throwing an extra $150 (cost of certificates, i'm renewing either way) at CVC. Anyone have any experience?

There is a very long thread on this topic that became so contentious that it was closed. A handful of people liked the now defunct program (to new memberships anyway). Most felt it was not worth the paper the contract was printed on. Since I have no first hand experience with it I won't comment but refer you to the "Find" tab at the top of your screen if you'd like to read the posts. Having read them before I don't think I'd put a single dollar of my own money in no matter what they promised.

Cheers, Neil

I've actually read that 20 page thread. I wish I found that while I was on the boat...

Since I've already purchased CVC, I might as well sleep in the bed I've made.

To add more information, I initially called into CVC asking to extend my membership on Tuesday. I told the agent that I would sleep on the whole certificate extension idea and to call me back.

He finally did call me back on Friday and informed me that it was a Limited time offer that was expiring Friday.
It looks like the high pressure sales are back in a different form already.

Since I was knee deep in a notebook disassembly, I didn't have time to question anything last time.

I got a call back today regarding the certificates and I guess the offer is back, but this time it's $149 per with no discount on membership renewal.

CVC may be gone, but the high pressure sales are definatly here til the day they actually die.
