Okay, Mr. October. I give. I admit I have a wry, sort of cynical Los Angeles sense of humor. PLease don't take me seriously. Smile

(Rubbing my hands on a crystal ball on a desk in front of me)... Smarmy imagery---- "I see cruise ship, a big one. Floating along on the calm ocean, the wake drifting me to sleep. Suddenly I'm on board sitting next to a window, with a book on my lap having fallen from my my unconscience hands." I lean back in my chair and silently inquire: "Oh great cruise ship! When will I be blessed with thy comfort again? Comforts such as on shore excursions, afternoon tea, the blessed evening showroom extravaganzas and endless gourmet dinners? Oh, when, dear ship, oh, when?" Just at this point my eyes open as my head hits the desk with a thud. I wake up to the cold rality of a non-nautical world. Cursed and relegated to the nightmare world of the Landlubber!!! Horsefeathers! I'm at work! Sniff

Fivepoints, you have cruise withdrawal symptons. Prescription is to start planning your next one! I have heard many people say they are going back to the real world..and I know what they mean when I hit that exit from Port Canaveral to a Denny's Smile Maybe is just me but I find if I start planning another cruise it perks me up some from the post cruise reality check. Best to you, IslandCruz

Your ABSOLUTELY dead on about the baby powder. I have a job were I am in and out of the car all day in the south. Mix that with summer and it can get sopping wet. Works great!

I would have loosened up more and met more People. I do meet people, but sometimes I will be beside People at the bar or on the deck or even casino and don't take the first step to say hello. Is sort of nuts, because every time I do I make a friend. Is something about this Cruise experience that makes most people more open to talk with others. I have found it has nothing to do with Social,Race,Geography..It seems to be that most people leave that behind when on a Cruise.. the outside influences are not there, and takes on the We are all on the same boat mentality.

I guess everybody who bought passage on board figures that we are all VISITORS in someone else's house (so to speak), we all paid for our cruise and everyone has an equal right to enjoy their trip. Big Grin

fivepoints,
I never really thought of it that way, but makes sense to me. I do know people are more open to conversation with total strangers it seems on a cruise. Where I come from it is common to say Hi to people, but we get alot of visitors from other places that look at us like we are nuts sometimes Smile

Smile. Los Angeles is pretty unfriendly, too, I suppose. But after livng here for more than 50 years, I believe people are unfriendly to strangers in Los Angeles because their reactions are soooooo unpredictable! Let's face it-it takes quite a bit of wherewithal to even take a cruise in the first place, which probably weeds out most of the purse snatcher types who you may encounter on the streets of L.A.! Lol

Yes, makes a valid point. I always have wanted to see LA and Hollywood, but don't think I would bode well there. If we have a purse snatching is on the news here. Of course is a vast population difference. But I see your point. And my thinking is isn't it great to be among people you can say Hi to Smile

IslandCruz: I will not retire here. Living in Los Angeles is miserable lately. I understand why half the population left in the 80's and 90's and moved to Washington State, Arizona and Oregon! L.A. IS a good place to visit, however. Lots of fun stuff to do here.

Hey fivepoints, Hope You and Family are doing well. Thanks for some insight. After the next cruise I am going to take a break and go somewhere in the continental US. I have never been to NYC, LA, or Vegas. That will never work, I still will have to sneak in a cheapie cruise Smile

fivepoints, I think we should get your topic back on topic so:

I would have taken less clothes, but I would have taken another pair of board shorts. That way while one is wet, I have a dry one Big Grin

I can think of a few things I would have done differently since I just returned from my imagination cruise, I would have stayed with the french mancure I orignially gotten then the off pink french manicure and pdicure I received by the 2nd day my nails were yellowish and did not look good, and defintely pack less bags. h and defintely do what Fivepoints said "Turned off my "I have to plan for every single, possible detail" self and relaxed as soon as I boarded the ship". And I defintely pack way too many shoes as I stated in this post that I thought I did before I even left.

LOL, Nita. Did you enjoy your cruise overall? I hope so. It's so much fun to relax and just watch the waves! Yep, #1 thing I would do differently: Pack less.

Thanks, Island Cruz, all is well. My daughters are in college and they love it. If you're thinkin' about visiting, Los Angeles is fun, fun, fun. Believe it or not, our favorite place to go is Disneyland. When you come to LA you must go to Disneyland. ThumbUp

Thanks,

I really want to see the old Hollywood type things too.

On Topic: I would have brought more under-wear. The one for each day does not work on a cruise. You got your Wet/Dry/Immodium issues Lol

Hey Fivepoints,
I enjoyed my cruise but wish I would have relaxed a little more. I wanted to see and od everything so I was running here and trying to see this on the ship or that. I wish I would have had more chances to just sit on one of the decks and just watch the waves a coupl of days. Plus we took turns between watching my 10 year old who wanted to stay in the pool, I think I ended up with him the majority of the time but all in all it is nothing like cruising the experince and the food let alone is enough by itself. Next cruise defintely will take it a lot more easier. Wanting to plan one right away but I know financially it will not be unti 08 Confused

We are now anxiously awaiting our fourth cruise. On the first one, we tried to do it all. By the last one, we were going slower. On this one, I will relax. There are things we want to see and do in our ports, but on the ship, we'll get a lot of quiet time, not going to every activity.
