I was reading somewhere that Carnival has a $25 fee, per towel, if you take one from the room to use at the pool or beach and lose it. (Or have it "borrowed" by another passager who thinks it is theirs!) Is this true? Do they not have towels up by the pools anymore? Do I need to bring my own towel from home? I don't want to "guard" a towel that lookes like everyone else's.
Yes, they do charge for those towles. You are allowed to use them on and off ship but they are your responsibility. We thought about taking our own this year but they're so big and bulky. I'll have to wait and see how many cute new clothes I'm carrying.. LOl !!!!!!!
We always take our own towels. The kids swim and each have monogrammed towels so other people on the swim team don't pick them up. It was great at the pool because the kids could go to the pool and come back and sit without people moving the towels. If they all look alike then sometimes people just sit down on them.

Unfortunely this is true they leave a large purple or blue beach towel with thier logo on it in your cabin and you are responsible for it though out the cruise so if you leave it somewhere and some one else picks it up you are without a towel and 25.00. they do have the regular white or white and blue stripe towels at the pool you can still use at no charge I was watching our 3 towels this last cruise like a hawk as that was 75.00 if they got misplaced. you can tell the steward not to leave them in the room or give them back, I take a beach towel from home with me or we have purchased cheap ones on shore, so as not to worry about losing the ships logo towels. if you have children odds are they will be left somewhere and some people have no problem lifting abandoned logo towels.
If you do lose your towel or someone snags it, talk to your room steward and ask him if he could get you another one, without being charged. (while holdind a $10 bill at arms length)
