I have ALWAYS had second seating, love a nap after a day in the sun, a cocktail before dinner...but, this last time I travelled with my 81 yr old Mother and it was TOO late for her. We made a bargain, she goes on another cruise, and we do early seating....depends on your normal eating time and cruise schedule.

I agree with all the others, if you can't handle eating late (food arriving around 9ish) than you won't want to do second seating. Given your ages though I would imagine you will be doing lots of fun stuff during the day and the early sitting can really cut into that time. The second seatings seem to have a lot less children....If you enjoy a cocktail before dinner, once you get showered and dressed, have a drink (or two!)it's usually close to the time for second sitting. Hope it helps.
Yes, having an ederly person with you, when they are "used" to eating, and going to bed early, can make a BIG difference, if the other people with them stay up, or eat later in the evening. This is where a person has to "compromise."
