Anyone out there that had to endure the 5 day cruise to nowhere? I don't feel like Carnival was totally honest with us before we boarded the ship. Anyone have any experience like this and what action could be taken?

Where were you suppose to cruise to? We are going on Ecstacy over Easter and are suppose to go to Cozumel. Let me know the details of what happened in your case.
Thanks

vacationmom1,

the "Ecstasy" had a major propulsion problem which slowed her down significantly.

It has reportedly been fixed, and from what I have heard, the ship has been operating normally since last weekend.

Too bad these things happen from time to time. I had the "pleasure" of experiencing a propulsion breakdown several years ago, as well. Frown

Best regards,

We were on the 5 day cruise to Cozumel and Calica from Galveston. The ship was having propulsion problems before we boarded and we were told that they should be fixed and we would still make our ports just a little later. The next day the problem remained and we were going to miss Cozumel but would still make Calica. The next day still working on the problem and couldn't make Calica but would go instead to Progresso Frown. When we finally made it to Progresso the winds were to high that the port was closed to a ship of our size. So we sat anchored for about 8 hours waiting on more parts and technicians. The problem still wasn't fixed and we were a few hours late making it back to Galveston. Carnival offered us a 50% refund and a 25% discount on our next cruise. The crew was very accomadating and tried to keep us entertained even though they didn't get their normal day off when the ship is in a port.
Hopefully the ship has been fixed by now but I have been out of town and haven't heard any news.

I was on the cruise when the propellor broke. I can't believe they sent the ship out again. We were supposed to dock on Monday morning, which would have allowed myself and the ladies I was with to make our 5 hour trip home in time for our husbands to go to work, get the kids to school, and go to work ourselves. This didn't happen. Information kept changing as what time everything was...the line was wrapped around the ship for Immigration - these were all who were going to carry their luggage thinking it would be quicker. Instead of waiting in line, we waited in line at the front desk - 2 people working! Two of the ladies I was with had errors on their bills when we finally got the bills at around 4:30 Monday afternoon. We stood in this line for an hour and 15 minutes. Once we got out of there, the Immigration line hadn't moved, apparently they weren't there yet. We ate the "complimentary" dinner that they provided...leftovers from the prior days. When we finished, we got in line and waited another 30 minutes for Immigration. After we were finished, they began calling those who had luggage tags. We had to sit in a room with everyone else that had their luggage for another 45 minutes to an hour until everyone else went through Immigration. The worst was yet to come. When they said we could go, it was terrible. Everyone was trying to get out at the same time. There were people in wheelchairs, elderly people, children - all trying to get out. The elevators got stuck because so many people got on. Going down the steps was dangerous. We got off the ship around 10 that night. We got home around 4 that next morning, we couldn't spend the night in a hotel because of our family obligations.
I called the phone number they gave me, and it was a waste of time. I asked for anything...something off my bill, a coupon for next time, anything. She told me that the executive decision was not made at that time to do anything for those who did not stay in a hotel. I asked her to let me speak to someone who was an executive so they could make the decision. She told me they represented the president, Mr. Dickenson, and there was noone I could talk to. She did get my name and number, and noted the complaint - and said that if anything was decided for me, she would let me know. That's it.
That was my experience, similar to many I am sure.

I have never experienced more rude and spoiled people than on that cruise. They could have had fun! But oh no, they were to worried about their precious money. My husband and I had a wonderful time! Get a life! We will never return to Texas. What a horrible state!

Hi folks,

please calm down - everybody.

As mentioned above I know how it feels to be on a broken-down ship, missing ports etc.

But please do not get personal.

Best regards,

I didn't have my husband with me. I had to get home to my little boy. Those are what's precious to me.
